'''DOB:''' October 4<br>

Before I say anything else, let me be clear: Quistis Trepe is a prodigy by every measurable criteria of the term. Her understanding of battlefield tactics, strategy, espionage, squad management and all standard combat forms necessary for a SeeD are all outstanding. She is the youngest student on record to have received her commission and it's as deserved as the rest of her reputation. Her mastery over the rare discipline of Blue Magic only makes her a more indispensable asset to Garden and is emblematic of her determination and ingenuity in acquiring valuable skills.

That said, we all know her tenure as an instructor didn't exactly pan out as expected. I feel the Garden Faculty bears some responsibility in this, allowing her impressive early achievements to cloud their judgment and forget that being an excellent SeeD does not always transition into being an effective instructor. I can hardly blame her for being lenient with the very students she had grown and developed alongside mere years ago, though I do not excuse it. It was a collective error to put her in charge over that particular group, which I had also mentioned at the time (You may recall I gave her notice of her demotion personally). I don't doubt she will make as talented an instructor as she is a soldier one day, but she still needs more experience in the field.

On that topic, her performance since the arrival of the Heartless has been commendable, particularly considering she'd just endured a draining mission at Galbadia's D-Prison shortly before it all began. Though I can tell she still bridles somewhat under my orders, I'd be lying if I said I didn't encourage a little fire in those I believe have the capacity to be this institution's next leaders. Although I feel Garden can scarcely afford to be without her calming presence on morale (whatever I may think about the 'Trepies', I can't say they aren't effective), I need her out in the field just as much. She needs to be out there too, if she's to have any idea of what we'll be going up against as this manic state of affairs develops.

As a final note, Specialist Trepe's tendency to internalized much of her personal feelings and struggles (This is not unexpected given the pressures of her role at Garden) could result in compromised performance in the long-term. I think she could use an effective outlet for those stressors, which is why i've attached a pamphlet one of our expeditionary squads brought back of this 'Blitzball' sport that's all the rage in Luca. If nothing else, a sponsored team would provide excellent training for amphibious operations.
== Overview ==

Welcome to the repository for the Faraven Reports! Though there isn't much here now, this should hopefully grow as time goes by. Since you probably followed a link here you no doubt have a few questions. The purpose of this page is to answer them. So without further adieu...

== Questions ==

'''What is a Faraven Report?'''

Good question! A Faraven Report is my way of contributing a little to the world and background of the game by giving Jean's take on individuals, events and new worlds as they are encountered. They are meant to be spiritually akin to the Ansem Reports one finds as 'bonus' items in the KH games, though they are not actually collectible. ICly they are reports Jean makes directly to Cid Kramer on a certain schedule.

'''Are Faraven Reports IC information?'''

Yes and no. They are definitely things Jean actually writes and contain his thoughts and impressions therein, but the your act of reading them in this format is OOC. In other words your character does not gain any of the information you might glean from reading them on the wiki (unless they knew it already) because the reports themselves are kept under lock and key at Balamb Garden. So, to give an example, if Quistis's player were to read a dossier on herself somewhere in here she could not then come to Jean IC and say 'What the hell do you mean by sadomachistic tendencies?!' or what have you. Doesn't work that way.

'''What are they about?'''

Many things. My current plan is for most of these to be about individuals Jean meets through RP, but they can also be about a particular area, an artifact or some queer bit a world history Jean discovers and thinks is relevant to the defense of Balamb.

'''Can I suggest a topic?'''

Absolutely! I am completely open to taking requests and suggestions for future Faraven Reports, the only requirement being that it is something or someone Jean is ICly aware of. So if you would really like to see Jean write a report about your character, their hometown or whatever feel free to send me an @mail (It is better to do it this way so I have it on file) requesting such. I should note that taking requests is by no means a guarantee of a report-it needs to be something I am interested in writing about-but it absolutely doesn't hurt to ask.

'''How often are you going to post these?'''

Not sure. I would like to strike a balance between people forgetting what they are and everyone getting sick of them. I suspect maybe one a week might be fine, but i'm not planning to stick a rigid schedule. So 'when I feel like it' seems about right.

'''Ugh Jean how dare you write these things at all like you're important or something.'''

Well /Rikku/, that's not really a question! But it's really just a thing I thought would be fun and I don't have any agenda with it other than make things people might like to read. Who knows, I may get bored with it, but for now it's happening.

And I think those are all the obvious questions off the top of my head. Now on to the actual list!
'''Threat Class:''' S

Barbariccia, or 'The Fat Lady' as she is known in the Situation Room, has been plaguing us for quite some time with her repeated attacks on Garden, each more potent than the last. Her objective remains unclear other than the simple act of wanton destruction-the fact that she often seems to act bored and attempts to (poorly) taunt others in battle seems to support this theory. Her relation to the Heartless remains unknown, but the creatures at least seem averse to attacking her (Strangely the reverse is not true) and act in tandem in a way that suggests she is able to exert some level of control towards them. As all of our existing data on Heartless suggests they are creatures of instinct they may just have a natural propensity to follow the strongest in their midst.

Having engaged with her on many separate occasions I can confirm that her title as the Fiend of Air is well-earned regardless of what else I might say about her. Her command over her element is near total in scope, and if truly roused I suspect the decimation she is capable of might well carry a significant structural security risk to the Garden. This does, however, seem to come with a price: She is extremely vulnerable when grounded, as if the land itself seems to siphon or limit her power in some way. Needless to say, she's very committed to remaining airborne at all times. Still, even half-hearted she's a considerable force to be reckoned with and I must recommend that SeeD Ranked 15 and below refrain from engaging her if the situation allows.

Her haughty, self-assured personality is a weakness that can be exploited, but to great risk. Anything that shatters Barbariccia's sense of superiority is sure to rouse her wrath, and considering what I stated earlier regarding the extent of her destructive ability I would recommend against inciting her in the vicinity of Balamb. The better strategy is to engage and keep her distracted from causing damage until she inevitably loses interest and retreats. Our teams continue to work on solutions in aggressively discouraging future attacks by both her and the Heartless.

More unsettling is the fact that she is likely not alone. A Fiend of Air suggests similar entities representing other elements as well, and her occasional reference-if not reverence-towards a figure known as 'Golbez' suggests she is not the lone actor she might seem. Regrettably, our focus on homestead defense at this time severely hinders our ability to gather more information about who she reports to and where she comes from. It is for this reason that I must again stress moving forward with the SeeD Expeditionary Corps. It is essential that we gain knowledge about the other worlds and what is in them, who our friends and enemies are, if we plan to ensure the continued survival of Garden as an institution in this new reality.
