"Stupid."

Clothes tattered, dried blood along his legs, head battered. Scratches and charr along his body. Bandages along his head, legs, and chest. His neck was in a cast to help support him.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid."

Shiki Misaki sits on a chair next to Reize. How could this happen? Why did this happen? He went out to Halloween Town, wherever that is, and came back practically mincemeat. She just turned away for a second and he was...

She's fumbling with things. Healing items Hanekoma gave her, taking them out of boxes while trying not to cry. She went from one extreme of warmth and joy, hugging her friends in Cleyra days ago, to seeing him like this for no fathomable reason.

"Stupid guy. Why did you do it? I don't even really know what happened. Why did you run off to some place you've never heard of before to get yourself almost killed for no reason?"

She shudders as she palms a green, bizarre thing. An HP ball, which shrinks and disappears into Reize's body with a plopping sound as soon as she places it on his skin. There are more to come. As she does it, the pendant flickers, so she guesses it's working.

"You say all these things... but look what happened to you. You have a home now. Did you even think about anything before you did it? You could have been turned into beef jerky. You'd never have seen these four walls again."

Another item, an elixir with a glass stopper. This one can't be administered so simply. Shiki has to remove bandages, wash away the blood. Apply it directly to Reize and replace the bandages. The embarrasment she'd feel is meaningless in the face of sheer need to help him. More from the pendant, shining on and off.

"Stupid. What was going to happen if you died? Someone we didn't know would come up and tell us 'he ran off somewhere out of the blue and now he's dead, sorry?' Not even for anything that meant anything."

She picks up one last thing. It's a pin Hanekoma said he kept around for emergencies. Little cartoon whale with a big wide eye, blowing a heart-shaped stream of water from its blowhole. Sheep Heavenly's Healing Whale pin. Cure Drink psych. She attaches it to a bandage.

"You have us now. You have /me/. Why didn't you think, Reize? Why didn't you /think/?"

She sits down and touches the pin, tries to concentrate. She's never used one before. She tilts Reize's head back and massages his throat so he drinks the imagination-rich liquid she creates with it.

"Reize," she says, voice trembling with tears. "Come back."
