 The core of Lynn's abilities comes from her pact with a water elemental known to a select few as Nereid. On her own, Lynn doesn't have a whole lot in the way of special talents to offer besides being a compassionate soul and having an extensively thorough knowledge of the inner workings of magic from having it drilled into her mind every day for a decade on end. She wants to help people, but on her own, there's not an awful lot she can do compared to the more fantastic sorts that populate the realms.
-Enter Nereid. A water elemental with a not-insignificant amount of power in its element's domain, yet no way to leave its home on its own, for lack of a mana source to sustain it. With Lynn offering up her own mana, something she can't even use on her own, the two become a potent combination, mixing Lynn's creativity and understanding of magic with Nereid's raw power. The end result wields a powerful brand of hydrokinesis, which, while not 'part the seas' powerful, is still enough for things like allowing people to swim and breathe underwater, capitalize on water's life-giving properties to heal people, or dropping small water tornadoes on people if she really needs to. It is not often that she needs to.

 Of course, this does result in a mixing of personalities and doubling up on what they have in common, and they have some potentially problematic in large doses traits, like a hero complex -- bad enough when it's one person's worth, even more nuts when there's two. It also begs the question of how much of Lynn's personality is Lynn, and how much is Nereid...
