 At the behest of Avira, VALKYRI had a hand in defending the city of Manhattan when it was [[In A New York Minute|targeted by a Shadow Lord campaign to destroy it]]. Ultimately, the overall effort was unsuccessful and the world fell to the darkness. As it turned out that it was really Avira's world that had fallen, she declared a [[Gathering the VALKYRI|new prime directive]] for the group: wherever they go, they would oppose the schemes of the Shadow Lords.
