History
Leida is the sole survivor of one of the many worlds lost to the Heartless. A strange mix of European and Japanese cultures, her home world was a place of feudal lords and ancient legends, each vying for control of the land and its resources. Little is known beyond the scant few details that the girl herself has seen fit to share but at some point a powerful demon manifested itself to her, offering her a bargain in exchange for its freedom from the seal that bound it to her bloodline. Miserable and lonely, she accepted this deal and became the host to a terrible entity that fed upon the sorrow, pain, and fear of everything around it.
The suffering caused by this eldritch horror's awakening brought down the Heartless upon her world and it fell into darkness, depositing the possessed princess upon the unwary shores of Traverse Town. Though luck or fate she managed to wander through the shadowy gaps between worlds and found herself upon the gates of Hollow Bastion. The other Shadow Lords wanted little to do with the demon, most simply shunning her presence. However, a chance encounter with Angantyr led to her meeting with his master, Garland, who placed a geass upon the girl that drove her to seek out strong hearts in the city of Manhattan.
Along the way, she encountered the Twilight Detective Agency and the demon's corrupting influence stirred the slumbering god within Will Sherman - eventually leading to its awakening during the fall of Manhattan to the Heartless.
After this, Leida wandered the worlds, unleashing her madness upon everything that crossed her path. She was driven back several times but it was not until confronted with the horrific mutation inflicted upon Angantyr that something changed. Seeing someone able to stoically withstand their fate of suffering shook the demon's control over her mind and she fled into the forests surrounding the Temple of Fiends.
Here a party lead by Reize of the Shard Seekers encountered the girl as she struggled to regain control of herself - but the demon would have none of that. A confrontation was forced with this diabolical being and through great effort and sacrifice it was sealed within the princess' blood once more.
Alone and helpless in this new world, Leida found that instead of anger, her rescuers offered sympathy to her plight. However, many had suffered from her foolish bargain and she has opted to do her best to set things right as a member of the Shard Seekers.
Over the next few months Leida's timid and sheltered personality managed to win her some sympathy as people began to realize just how naive she really was. She befriended the Shard Seekers as well as several others, many of whom were drawn to the city of Fluorgis during its time of crisis. The most prominent of those these, however, was the collective consciousness known as Legion. Though they each shared their thoughts with each other, Imi in particular managed to connect with the young princess through her rather bold and socially inappropriate methods. These shock tactics succeeded in slowly encouraging Leida from her shell.
In return, Leida pitched in to help Imi and her sisters break free from the deadly game that had followed them to the new world. However, by braving the fields of combat she allowed some of the darkness to slip free of the seal and her body began to mutate with the demonic energies. Determined not to be a burden, Leida continued to hone her skills and throw herself into harm's way but in doing so further pulled herself down the path of corruption.
Personality
Hailing from a world where every facet of social interaction was governed by rules and etiquette, Leida is an incredible stickler for tradition and politeness. She dislikes public displays of affection and is easily embarrassed by overt attempts to garner her attentions, much preferring to remain in the background and simply enjoy the company of others. However, she is also incredibly passive and timid, and often acquiesces to the desires of others rather than provoke any sort of confrontation.
Of late, however, the princess has grown more bold in her mannerisms and demeanor, perhaps as a result of the efforts of many to pull down her anti-social barriers that had been built up by years of living in fear. Perceptive individuals will note, however, that these changes in behavior also happen to coincide with the slowly increasing darkness that continues to consume the girl. Is her emotional growth genuine or is she drawing this strength from something less pleasant?
Abilities
Kyudo Archery - Thanks to some tutoring from her brothers, who were avid hunters and sportsmen, Leida has some basic knowledge on the traditional archery techniques of her homeland. However, thanks to the unnatural powers granted to her by the demon's blood running through her veins, she commands this weapon with amazing skill that far outstrips her meager strength and clumsy nature.
Demon Seal - When the demon was sealed within her blood, a magical engraving was placed upon Leida's shoulder, acting as a focal point for the seal's energies. This mark not only keeps the demon contained but also grants a measure of its power to the princess, allowing her to draw upon a well of strength, endurance, and grace that far exceeds her body's natural capabilities during times of stress.
Housework - Despite being the daughter of royalty, Leida's family had little use for her as an heir and she was often given more menial tasks as a form of teasing and insult. As a result, she is surprisingly competent at both cooking and cleaning - for a princess.
Spirit Channeling - Along with the demon, the hundreds of souls that it devoured have been sealed within Leida's body. These spirits can be called upon to assist her in combat by pouring their sorrow into her enemies. Two of them seem to be able to manifest at will despite her best attempts to get rid of them. She has named these bothersome fellows Lefty and Pochi. This power also allows her to see ghosts and other spirits that might normally be invisible.
Demon Sight - Leida's eyes have altered thanks to the demon's blood, allowing her to see much more clearly at long distances and in near complete darkness. They have been physically corrupted by this change and now appear very lizard-like with slitted pupils and red sclera.
Demon Horns - A quartet of sharp boney horns protrude from the top of Leida's head. In addition to giving her wicked headbutt potential, these demonic accessories act as channels for a large majority of the darkness that she can control. With their appearance she has regained the power to summon forth shadowy arms to do her bidding, though they can only manifest on her back at present, limiting their reach and numbers.
