The worlds twist around Mercade Alexander as he plunges ahead, the swirling landscapes wonderful and terrible to behold. Once they were a source of amazement to the detective, but now there was no time.

His home was under siege.

"<i>You've lost the game.</i>" The Mistress of Games mocked. "<i>It's too late for you to do anything.</i>"

He had to try anyway. He was not going to go down without a fight. 

As he plunged through the end of the Portal, sound erupted around him. Chaos. a roar like the Trumpets of the Apocalypse rose through the air. Fire. Darkness. The skies raced, black as night as pitch spread through the land. Unfortunate people ran in all directions, the guardians who saved so much, so many, having been forced to abandon the world at the last moments.

He charged forward, his voice unheard as he screamed in the chaos of a world descendant. Gunfire shattered Heartless as he charged, but it was useless. Less than useless, as he lunged down the street. He saw glimpses of the Twilight Detective Agency, sinking into the ground, slowly eaten by the darkness. 

He screamed, his voice trying to carry over the madness, willing himself to be heard even though he knew it was useless.

Will. Tom. Celina. Han. Avira. Even Max, that French jerk. The thoughts of all of his friends that must have been here. So many he's met, so many bonds made...

And so much broken.

His voice went unheard as the world shook, and everything shattered, falling into Darkness. Heartless grasped at him, attempting to pull him down. He fired again, but a Large Body rammed into him, knocking him away. His guns fell, swiftly devoured by the spreading darkness. He looked up, the Heartless clamoring to claim one more Heart, when a sudden vortex from the Portal he just left pulled at him. It ripped him into the air and swallowed him, as if in one last desperate attempt to salvage something from it. His guns vanished into the blackness as he was pulled from the world, the last thing he could give.

<i>In the end. I wasn't good enough. I'm sorry.</i>

And he was pulled back into the Portal, and then Darkness, as the World collapsed just behind him.
