A Rough Morning
Date of Scene: 07 December 2012
Location: Fluorgis - Shard Seekers HQ
Synopsis: Skoll finds out for the first time that he's not the only werewolf remaining from his world.
Cast of Characters: Skoll Ulfang, Sassaral

Skoll Ulfang has posed:
What a nightmare. Skoll had been immensely tired when he'd come into the Shard Seekers HQ. It'd been fairly empty, with the call for helping out in Manhattan. At least none of the boys had been around to witness the embarassment of the wolf waking up and howling the saddest wolfish howl he could muster within that nightmare. Now, the werewolf has gotten up from the dorm's bed and gone walking through the room... only moments after waking. Who knows if anyone had heard him outside of that room.

His shirt is still open, his jacket still strewn out on the bed, and as he walks into the main room he's still busy buttoning and zipping up his pants. His hair is a bit messy and his tail is extra floofy. He has that kind of 'morning wild' to him that comes with his kind of looks. He is quiet though, very quiet as he tries to find his way to the kitchen - trying to find some water to moisten his parched throat.

The sun shines through the windows, shining a nice warmth onto the floors in this desert region's city. It's just barely morning, and the puppies immediately wake up in the garden and come running with small 'barks' to greet the wolf. Normally, he'd pick them up or play tug-of war or at least tossle a bit with them. Today... no such happy wolf.
Sassaral has posed:
Another wolf resides in Fluorgis... and by some sheer oddity it seems neither Skoll nor Sassaral have managed to pick up the scent of the other. Granted, the plethora of scents in this very lively dwelling may serve to mask things. However, this does not wipe Sassaral's mind clean of the knowledge gleaned from the lovely gargress known as Zia. Simply put: another exists. Though, the strange howl heart recently... the girl chalked it up to a dream. It had been too long since she heard any manner of howl, jubilant /or/ sad.... how could this have been true?

Sassaral, in previous days, had worried that thought around in her pretty little head as a river would a rock. If that's not enough food for thought, there was that Manhattan business! The little wolf, who likes to have her pack close to home, hadn't been too keen on others departing for that... it's a city, right? Sassaral knows little of cities.

So the morning's dawn finds the girl up and about, keeping busy in her typical fashion. First stop? Sassaral's very favorite spot in the Shard Seekers' abode: the garden. Reverently, since planting the little blue flowers a few days prior, the little werewolf had seen to them and this morning is no exception. Crouched in front of the very flowerbox that contains her prize, Sassaral waters the soil delicately, golden eyes flitting lovingly over each and every little blue flower. She is dressed sensibly in a simple loose-fitting dress of ivory and brown coloration, her hair pulled back and woven around her head in a braid. As always, Sassaral is fresh-faced and ready for the day.

Then, she.. hears puppies barking? She looks up, sniffing the air delicately.... yes, Sassaral knows of these babies existing in Fluorgis.. but they sure sound excited. Clutching her watering can, the girl rises to her feet and pads off in the direction of the puppies' fanfare. Just behind a fringe of greenery, Sassaral peers beyond and spies a man wandering----a man with a /tail/. And---

One sniff of the air, Sassaral catches something beneath the warm musk of puppy and freshness of plantlife: wolf. A sharp gasp, she hugs the can to her chest.
Skoll Ulfang has posed:
Skoll leaves his shirt just dangling open, and hasn't even bothered to put on socks or anything of the like. There's a few chains that hang down from his pants, but most of them are only connected on one side - instead of looping around as they normally would. He's found the water-can and is drinking directly from it instead of using a glass. Hey... he intends to finish it, so it's okay.

He continues to drink from it, and then puts it down just a few moments before Sasseral wanders into the kitchen section of the headquarters. Yet, it's obvious he's not quite there, because it takes that sharp gasp of hers for him to even notice her. His ears twitch, then swivel a little before those start golden-yellow eyes turn to gaze into her direction. Yet his reaction upon seeing her and noticing her features isn't quite what she might have expected.

Thanks to last night's nightmare, instead of perking up, his ears fall a bit closer to his head and his tail shifts nearer to his legs. Yet still, he doesn't move away. He just stands there, his mouth slightly open and showing his fangs, and his eyes trembling a little while taking her form in. The long... long... /really/ long hair. And then there's the tail showing so obviously behind her.

"You're her..." He then finally whispers, his body shaking a little now, his mind in uproar about this. He's not alone. He's now confirmed it. He can smell her clearly. The puppies keep barking at his feet, knowing he's the bringer of the bacon - and they end up being the distraction he needs. Is she another one to join that 'lineup' before him? What would his decision be for her? The fatal one... or the invitable one...

He slowly moves to the counter and moves to take some bacon from the fridge, and starts frying them. He's not sure what to say. If he involves himself with her... but yet still, she's one of his own kind! He can't possibly be calous to her! It was just a dream right!?

The werewolf bites his lower lip for a moment, before he turns towards her again and then shows a weak smile, and moves one hand out... offering a hug. "We're the same."
Sassaral has posed:
Following her little expression of surprise, Sassaral immediately chides herself as she sees Skoll react, in-turn. Golden eyes watched the man's ears swivel toward her, soon followed by his own striking gaze. Out of instinct the girl dips her own stare toward the floor.. both a sign of submission, and to avoid a prolonged gaze into Skoll's eyes. No need to shapeshift in the middle of the kitchen. ~.~;

But even as she looks down, with quick glances to further piece together Skoll's appearance in her mind, Sassaral can /feel/ his aura, in a way. Her own ears, the tips of which are bound within her haphazard hairstyle, feel as if they're burning at the lobes as her body goes into overdrive, heart pounding. Sassaral shall hold this position throughout the duration of Skoll's onceover of her, and at the right moment she will look up again to survey him. Looking at his ears; his bare chest; the floofy tail and the curious placements of chains dangling from his pants. But it's /scent/ that runs rampant here, and it's enough to warrant a glimmer of moisture in the girl's eyes.

Beneath the hem of her secondhand dress, the cream-colored tip of her own tail twitches and flops this way and that, her knees shaking. Skoll whispers those two words 'you're her' and Sassaral looks up again, catching his eyes briefly before focusing upon his forehead. "I... yeah... y--yeah," Is all she can manage. Is too flabbergasted to even think of her response as silly. What's going to happen? Sassaral remains as still as a statue as Skoll goes about frying the bacon, the smell of which warrants the tip of the girl's tongue to slash across her lower lip in an expression of want. Mmm.. bacon....

"That was you, wasn't it.. that howl.." Sassaral utters in the back of her throat, her tone tremulous and fluting. She looks up again, bracing herself as Skoll approaches... but when he smiles weakly, that decides the girl. THere will be no harm done here, and she allows herself to sink into the embrace of the hug. Brow drawn, eyes wet.

"Never thought I'd feel this again..." She whispers, form trembling, watering can dropped between her ankles.
Skoll Ulfang has posed:
Skoll's heart beats strongly, no matter how weak and hesitant he may feel at the moment. In his mind, he makes notes about her little behavioral traits. The way her ears are hidden in her hair, the way her eyes immediately had gone down, the way she holds herself. She feels like something close to an Omega. And as much as Skoll may have been pushed by his father to become an alpha, her being nearby doesn't draw his ire - nor does he even bare his teeth.

Instead, when she slowly comes closer in her awkward but cute way, he smiles a bit more brightly. This was so different from what he'd thought a meeting between two of his race would be like now. He thought it'd be dramatic. A run along a field, hugging, twirling around. But this is far more... complacant. Far sadder under the weight of reality. He dips his head a little and lays his cheek against the side of her head, and smells the girl audibly.

Her comment about his howl have him speaking in a warm voice near her ear. It's a weak and hesitant answer, "... yeah." But it's an answer, and that was enough. She's warm - different from others in that regards. It was like being home again, in the embrace of family. His hand holding the frying pan remains outstretched, cooking the delicious bacon while he keeps holding her with that one hand - touching her lower back.

"I never thought..." He replies, wanting to repeat after her, but doesn't finish the sentence. He instead kisses the top of her head and then nuzzles her head a little again. It's like two lost siblings finally meeting eachother again. But again - reality is far... far darker than that. "I never thought I'd see one of our kind again... I'd given up hope." He whispers. The watercan that had dropped between her ankles has fallen to the floor, spilling its water onto the floor and his bare feet. But Skoll doesn't care.

He kisses one of her ears, and then looks aside towards the bacon. "Go on, go sit at the table. I'll make extra." He then whispers, and slowly parts his arm from her so he might reach into the fridge again for more of the flat mean strips.
Sassaral has posed:
Indeed, an Omega. One who really has no qualms with her lot in life at so low a 'ranking', even if such a hierarchy isn't quite as common in this mismatched world. But Sassaral can tell that this taller man bears an Alpha-esque manner; he is one to be obeyed, as whispered to Sassaral by her inner wolf. But this is a reception that the girl hadn't expected, being collected like this and held. It's one thing to hug another body, but to wrap one's arms around another of one's race.. a race that was all but decimated? THAT is a big deal. The smaller wolf's arms form a band around Skoll's midsection as she leans in, going up on tiptoes so that she may press her cheekbone to the side of his face.

In a completely simultaneous effort, she draws breath through her nostrils to take in Skoll's scent, likely at the exact same time he samples her own. That of health, garden soil and something /vaguely/ floral. And of course: wolf.

And bacon.

"I thought I had dreamt it, hearing that. So sad. It sounded like a hopeless call," Sassaral remarks of Skoll's cry, and she too cares little of the water that has since soaked into her soft-soled shoes. "I had no idea... I heard about you via Miss Zia... that you live /here/, but why.. how I couldn't find you..." Sassaral pauses, shakes her head slowly, hair tousled against Skoll's chest. A quick sniffle, and when bid to do so she reluctantly disengages and pads toward the table. There she allows herself a quick dabbing of her eyes, using the corner of her dress hem to do so. Before sitting, she instead moves to snatch up a towel with which to soak up the water. "My name is Sassaral. And it is a pleasure to /finally/ meet you." She says softly, almost hesitantly.. what if she is mistaken...? Best try nonetheless.. "You're.. Skoll, right? That's your name?" She asks, and out of memory following her exchange with Zia and a grasp of the dialect, the man's name is pronounced perfectly.

Give her a sec, her heart will stop pounding before it's likely to explode.
Skoll Ulfang has posed:
The wolf appreciates how the girl goes out of her way to reciprocate his natural wolfish affection. He's normally not one to just go hugging people or even remotely be this 'close'. But with people of his own kind... things were different. Socials norms were different. It was 'okay', and there were no misunderstandings. This is how such a greeting should be.

Skoll smells strong. The metal of his chains, the musk of strong wolf, many scents that show just how much this wolf travels, and two other things. Whether or not Sassaral might recognize them is debatable... the scent of darkness... and the unique scent of being an Unlimited upon him. They're metaphysical concepts in a ways, but werewolves aren't 'normal' creatures in that regard at times.

Her scent remains stamped in memory, strong - even though she may only be an Omega. In a 'pack' of but two, that role is simply not that important anymore. He continues to cook the bacon, shoving pieces onto a plate while his tail slowly comes from its former hiding place and slowly begins to wag a little. It seems that this meeting has cheered him up a little.

With her having let go, he has the chance to also walk around a bit more and pace his answers to her. "I too heard of you from Zia. I don't spend much time here, and when I do, I am usually not paying that much attention..." he then looks at the barking puppies, and waits for some of the bacon to cool down, before he tosses a few broken pieces down for the hungry horde. "And the dogs carry similar scent." He watches her snatching that towel and starts soaking up the water...

Skoll reaches out, and touches the girl's arm gently. As an Omega, she might think this a grip where he might start punishing her for something. But instead, he whispers to her. "It's okay. Let it be wet for a bit. Just sit, Sassaral." Her name, perfectly pronounced as well.

Finishing with the bacon he has in the pan right now, he slides it all onto the plate from earlier and then moves it onto the table, and settles down on a chair in front of her, and tries his best to relax in his chair. He doesn't meet her eyes very often - but at least he isn't entirely avoiding hers either. He's letting her know that he trusts her by doing this. "Don't worry about the howl..." His fingers curl around the armrest for a moment, claws digging into them. Skoll's hair rises a little, before he calms himself down again.

Hopelessness... that's about right.

"Just a bad dream." He looks away from her as he says this, suggesting it wasn't just a bad dream.
Sassaral has posed:
Mayhaps that is what warrants the pounding of the girl's heart. The scent of power elicits many a thing in a creature that is used to a rank system. That which she detected from Skoll is definitely the culprit here... but not just that. It's also due to the 'extras'. The darkness is a 'new' scent to Sassaral.. something that has only become better known in this world. As for the Unlimited aspect...? Sassaral knows as much about that as she does the darkness, and all she is left with is a sense of awe. Maybe her body is two steps ahead of her mind, in reacting to such a sense of power.

DEFINITELY not the typical werewolf. But he IS a werewolf nonetheless, and it is all Sassaral wants to do.. to just hug him and hold on. Again, in that affectionate, almost familiar manner. So outward a display may lead an outsider to suspect romantic connotations... but in a wolf's mind? It's par for the course.. as easy as drawing breath and shaking hands. Sassaral's tail has been set to wagging and she doesn't even realize it.

Having since knelt a bit to swab at the water, Sassaral pauses to watch the puppies as they go mad over the scraps of 'meat candy'. The girl cannot help but smile and had she been caught at a weaker moment (with no Alphas watching ~.~) she would probably have thrown herself right into the frenzy. However, Sassaral is a lady at heart... and before she can give the puddle a good wipedown she is abruptly aware of a strong hand upon her forearm. /Freeze/. It's instantaneous, the way the girl pauses, but upon looking up at Skoll's face -- again, a brief eye catch -- she nods once and rises to stand. "Alright." She concedes, without question.

A few steps, a whisper of skirts, and she is sitting in the chair with the now empty watering can resting at her feet. She is joined by Skoll and the bacon but note, she does not reach out to take but a /scrap/ until the man deigns to do so first. This is bourne of both politeness and instinct.. and hoenstly, she looks rather content to be seated across from him. The tip of her tail traces lazy circles upon the floor as Sassaral watches Skoll, her small frame lost in the pale froth of her oversized dress.

"Fair enough... I used to have nightmares.. about the first week after arriving. Before I came to Fluorgis.." Sassaral looks down at her fingers, knit together upon the tabletop. "When I wandered alone. I couldn't understand how I survived.."
Skoll Ulfang has posed:
With the girl sitting in front of him, Skoll recalls the way she'd frozen. Definitely an Omega. Poor girl. He feels for her, because of the way his own family dynamic had changed surrounding the one who had carried Hati. The youth shakes his head a little and turns his attention to the bacon and takes the smallest piece there is and noms it. By taking the smallest piece, he leaves her no option but to take a 'bigger' piece than him. "It's alright." He whispers to her, before he is silenced by the need to chew.

Things grow quiet for a moment again, on his side at least, as he listens to the girl. He can tell just how nervous she seems to be. "Hey..." He whispers, moving a hand out and laying it to the back of hers. "It's okay. I'm here now." He whispers, before retreating his hand and grabbing another piece of bacon. Before he starts chewing on this one though, he nods his head and comments;

"I had those too. I still have them. My survival was probably different from your own... but to know that I was the last... or... 'think' - I guess is the more proper word. To think I was the last one. Watching the coming of the one who destroyed our world... being unable to defeat him with my entire pack..." He shakes his head. "I hope your nightmares at least have disappeared." His have not.
Sassaral has posed:
Ever-patient and dutiful, Sassaral continues to sit across from Skoll rather politely, small hands resting in her lap. She is watching him for the most part, taking in his appearance and committing not just that to memory, but scent. It feels like it's been 'ages' since she has last caught wind of another werewolf. Realistically, it had only been about a month... but it sure as heck feels like it's been longer than that. Golden eyes spy Skoll picking a smaller piece, and the girl sees the intent... a bigger piece has been left for her! In the world of wolves this is, perhaps, one of the /greatest/ compliments~

Again Sassaral is jolted out of her thought process by a touch to her hand, and she looks up and into Skoll's eyes just long enough to catch his reassurance. Her lips curl into a slight smile and she reaches forth to accept a piece of meat. "Thank you," She chimes, and is taking her first bite as Skoll speaks further of the nightmares. The smaller werewolf's gaze continues to light upon the young man, though at different points of his face. She is noting his coloration; hair, skin tone. This too speaks of a different pack, and Sassaral reckons Skoll hails from a pack that was far more remote than her own. Hers were a people of tanned skin and warm tones.

As she finishes her piece of bacon, Sassaral reaches for another and freezes the moment Omega is brought up. The memory is still rather raw and the girl's pretty features fall a bit. "My pack didn't stand a chance.. we were smaller. It didn't take long." She remarks with a sad little puff of breath through her nostrils and helps herself to more meat. "Where did your pack reside, Skoll?" She asks gently; clearly she harbors little knowledge of his notoriety and what rumors had spoken of in their home world. Sassaral's parents, however, may have spoken otherwise.

But Sassaral is completely, utterly innocent in the matter. Daintily she dabs her mouth with a napkin.
Skoll Ulfang has posed:
"Somewhere to the center of the world." Skoll answers Sassaral, letting out a little sigh and leans back, watching the girl eat. The way she tries to be so prime and proper amuses him. The youth proceeds to look up at the clock in the kitchen, and then slowly stands up, while moving a hand up to indicate she should remain seated.

"Anyhow, I need to get going. There's a bunch of things I need to take care of." He places his hand on the girl's shoulder and gives her one of those warm smiles one would expect from a big brother. "You eat well, okay?" He tells her. "If you stick around, you're certain to be kept well fed by me. You have no idea how happy I am to know that I am not... alone."

His hand lifts from her shoulder, and the youth proceeds to move to the edge of the kitchen. "I'll be around. I promise. You're not alone... Sassaral." The youth smirks, and then walks around the corner.
