Lost Bracelet and the Mouse
Date of Scene: 22 October 2012
Location: Figaro Desert
Synopsis: Reize decided to help an injured traveler who lost his lucky bracelet that his wife gave him thanks to an encounter at Figaro Desert. Reize traveled to begin his search, but he would not be without help in the form of a mysterious mouse.
Cast of Characters: Reize Seatlan, King Mickey

Reize Seatlan has posed:
Welcome to the hot desert that people are familiar with, Figaro. It is a sea of golden crystallized sand that stretches out fo miles. With the presence of a few cactaurs about and the dry bushes, there is a rare glimpse of an exotic plant.

The monsters are pretty lively here, yet many of them are remaining out of sight from humans.

Of course, getting through the desert on chocobo would be faster, but that costs money that is best used for the clan funding. As such, the leader of the Shard Seekers traveled on foot.

His scarf is used to help secure his features from the heat, but overall, he is feeling the sting from the sun beating down on him.

"Guh..." The boy's antenna hair flips low. "I heard there was something here..." He reaches into his pouch and then he procures a note. Something about a lost bracelet.

Then, Reize looks around the vast desert.

Sweatdrop.

"This is going to be a while."
King Mickey has posed:
King Mickey's disappearance has caused quite a lot of trouble for a lot of people. Indeed, the mouse doesn't seem to be in any rush to return back to Disney Castle and start looking after his subjects; there's just too much out there right now, which needs his attention. Too many questions which remain unanswered. Too many dangers which remain unchallanged.

Mickey, too, has eschewed Chocobo travel. In his case, it is because he prefers to take the more scenic route when he can. It allows him to take his time, see everything that he might have to see, and meet interesting people. The monsters don't worry him too much, either; better that they run into him than into a helpless traveller, after all!

And it seems that his journey is vindicated.

The mouse clears his throat behind Reize. Wearing his usual outfit, though with the addition of a bright red umbrella which is shielding the diminuitive figure from the sun, Mickey is all smiles as he looks up at the boy.

"Well hey there!" He declares, voice... so very squeaky. "Are you looking for something out here? It'll go faster with two sets of eyes!"
Reize Seatlan has posed:
It is a good thing that Reize is not alone. It helps. Even Reize, an adventurer who is getting used to the travels in the desert, has a limit when it comes to dealing with the monsters in this terrain. He blinks upon hearing a voice clearing its throat.

He quickly turns around to see a smaller, mouse-figure before him. "Huh?" The lad looks over the other traveler who carries a smile his way. The offer for the help earns a smile from the youth.

"I'd appreciate it! Thank you!" He rubs the back of his head sheepishly, "I'm helping someone out at the city. He told me that there is a missing bracelet that his wife gave him for good luck. He was injured due to his encounter with one of the monsters. He is in no condition to find it himself, so I figure I'd help him out."

He sweeps his head around, "...He said it'd be somewhere out in Figaro Desert." Which is where they are at. "Didn't say where he likely lost it specifically."

He looks over towards the mouse, "I'm Reize!" A hand extends towards Mickey.
King Mickey has posed:
Mickey listens to the explanation, and his expression grows suitably concerned. Family trinkets are an important thing! It isn't good for them to go missing, after all, heirlooms are irreplaceable. The boy's willingness to jump in to aid another definitely merits Mickey's approval, though, and he nods his head slowly.

"Okay!" The mouse declares, clapping his hands together, "Well, if it is out here somewhere, we better start looking right away!"

One hand then comes forward to clasp Reize's, and shake it firmly. "I'm Mickey. Pleased to meet you, Reize! Now, it is pretty dangerous out here sometimes, so, we better look together! If it is a shiny trinket, it might have ended up in a vulture's nest!"
Reize Seatlan has posed:
The handshake is done and the boy's smile grows towards the large-eared individual. Quite different than the burmecian that is Faruja, but still. Mickey's willingness to assist Reize in the situation earns a smile. The young man rubs the back of his head sheepishly, "Yeah! However..." He looks across the vast desert.

"..Hard to kow where to start."

Mickey's suggestion of it being at a vulture's nest does earn a thoughtful look. "That is true. I don't know too much about the desert dwellers here. But.. we could try to find a vultre's nest!"

With movement gearing along a path, Reize turns to face Mickey, "Where would a vulture's nest be? High places like regular birds?"
King Mickey has posed:
Mickey's ear twitches, and he brings one hand up to his chin, stroking it thoughtfully as he considers. What does he know about vultures and their habits? Well, he's been through a fair number of deserts in his time, he just needs to apply that knowledge.

"Well I think they live in scraggly trees, mostly." He says, tilting his umbrella back and raising his free hand to shield his eyes, so he can start to scan the horizon. The desert is mostly just sands, though. But then, that'll make it a little easier to spot those few outcroppings.

"It might also have been taken by a monster, though, so be careful!"
Reize Seatlan has posed:
"That shouldn't be too difficult to find, right?" The young lad grins towards Mickey, "With the desert mostly sand, we should be able to find some trees." He then winces, offering a warning.

"I have lots of potions in stock. A lot of monsters are venomous or can use some pretty bad toxins." The young lad has not forgotten his encounters within te desert.

As the two continue to travel, there are plenty of sand about. There are a couple of swaggly looking trees, but none of them offer the trinkets.

Reize turns to face Mickey, "You're a traveler too, right?" He brightens, "Where have you traveled to?"
King Mickey has posed:
Mickey takes the advice seriously - it is all stuff he knows but, it is always important not to take these things for granted. "That was good thinking! It always pays to be prepared!" He also proves to be, surprisingly good at getting up trees. The mouse can jump! And despite being under three feet tall, he hops and skips his way up to the very top branches, because it isn't fair to expect Reize to do all the hard work.

"Oh, I've been to a few places." Mickey replies to the question. But he's soon quick to try and deflect away from that line of enquiry. "How about you? I've only just gotten to Figaro, is there anything other than the poison monsters I should worry about?"
Reize Seatlan has posed:
Lifting his head up, Reize catches Mickey's jump along the trees. "Whoa!" The smile brightens from the boy, who then follows after Mickey. The young lad is springing up from the ground, running along the tree and he starts looking around the branches.

Still nothing.

"Oh! Well.." The young lad runs his hand along his chin, "I ended up being able to travel when I first got here.." He knits his eyebrows, "I've got a chance to see Traverse Town, but then I ran into places where mechanical things are out in the road. They are scary looking and can hurt people if they hit them hard. I think they're called cars. Manhattan has those."

As the boy springs along the next branch, he tries to see what he finds. Nothing.

"It's a big place. There are so many people!" He kicks off of the branch, making his descent towards the ground. A hand slaps the sand while is feet implants.

"And I also traveled through another city similar called the Goug." He frowns, "Then there is a town where everything seems... dirty and polluted." His expression turns sadden, "Junon... " He smiles faintly, "But I had a chance to travel through the mythril mines and the dreaded woods. Now, been through the desert all the way to Fluorgis."

"...This is my first adventure."
King Mickey has posed:
"Well that sounds like quite a trip!"

The King's descent to the ground is a little more controlled than Reize's; partly because he doesn't mind sliding down the tree in order to avoid having to jump quite as far. He also, mentally, is checking off where Reize has been. It does sound like quite a long way, especially for a first time!

"And where did you start from? I always find, even though I love to travel, it is when I get home that I really appreciate the journey."

Which is absolutely true. Because even though traveling is great, and he'd never deny that he loves helping others and exploring the world(s), it is much easier to look back on that favorably when he's at home, with his wife, and his friends.
Reize Seatlan has posed:
"... I don't know what my world was like." Reize turns to face Mickey with a more subdued smile. "I lived in a small village that was around forest, it was in the middle of nowhere." He gives a grin, "We call it Iselia." It's a faint smile, "It has about.. maybe thirty or fourty people." He thinks over the situation. "But it may had been lost when the Heartless came... I don't recall it, I ended up somewhere different, following some voices."

For a brief moment, Reize's pendant lights up.

Nevertheless, Reize backtracks a bit, "There are plenty of creatures here, one of them being some alcarans. They are like scorpions...".

But soon, there are creatures emerging from the sand. One of them are a three blue armored scorpions. Another are a couple of large manta rays emerging from the sand.

Hiss..

"Gah! That's them!"
King Mickey has posed:
Mickey really is a very good listener. With ears as big as his, arguably, he has no choice. But there's a real softening in him when he hears Reize's story. It is one which is all too familiar. Would that he could be everywhere, save everyone, but... he can't. Nonetheless, he has only kind words.

"Don't lose hope." Mickey replies, "There is ALWAYS a way back home."

Simple words, but heartfelt.

And then there are monsters. Mickey's expression hardens considerably; suddenly all business. Ordinarily, he'd try to avoid conflict. But monsters are monsters; there's no rationalizing with them, and only, as much as he might dislike it, one way to deal with it.

His hand is suddenly whipping out behind him, and with a shimmering bright light, grasps the hilt of his Keyblade. The blade itself a brilliant and shining gold, the hilt silver, and the iconic Mickey head keychain dangling from it.

"Don't worry, Reize, we'll scare them off!"

And as he is suddenly spiralling through the air, whirling like a mouse-sized tornado, to land directly in the middle of the three scorpions and sweep the keyblade around with him, he seems pretty intent on doing exactly that.
Reize Seatlan has posed:
Monster are in.

Reize already moves to withdraw both of his boomerangs from his side. With his hea lifting up, the boy slowly turns his head to see a shimmering bright light of a keyblade.

A blink.

Didn't he hear something about such a tool? Or a weapon...?

"...Here we go." He takes a more aggressive stance, already running towards the sand rays.

The scorpions are swept away by the incoming whirlwind of a mouse. They are chucked off into the sky.

"Whoa!" Back to his deal.

Reize places his hands on one of the manta ray's back, only to push off before it can snap its tail to his arm. He comes down swinging a boomerang with one hand at the ray nearby and a spining kick towards the other one.

This sends the two sprawling back.

Just as Mickey stated, the monsters flee.

"Wooo! We scared them off!"

Thankfully, there is a larger scraggly tree nearby.

Turning to face Mickey, "...Thank you for your words. However, it's why my friends and I formed the Shard Seekers." A smile, "We will find the shards of everyone's worlds and restore them."
King Mickey has posed:
There's no need for Mickey to hold on to his Keyblade so... he doesn't. The monsters are dealt with, and now it can return back to shimmering light until he needs it again. It is always a risk, even for someone like him; the Keyblade always calls out to the Heartless, and flaunting its power is... not a very good idea, to say the least.

There's definite satisfaction in seeing that Reize can look after himself, though. The boomerang trick gets an appreciative whistle, and when it is all over, the mouse is smiling from ear to ear.

"The Shard Seekers, huh?" Mickey chirps, then, nods, firmly, "That sounds like a great idea! I'm sure you'll do great!" He points up at the tree, though. It really is much larger; and therefore by all narrative laws he knows almost certaintly contains the object of their search.

"And something tells me our friend's luck is about to change!"

Oh Mickey.
Reize Seatlan has posed:
The boy, at first, considered asking about that strange weapon. However, Reize decides not to. Instead, he wanted to work on something else: Finding the bracelet.

Mickey's words of encouragement is granted a smile. "Thank you, Mickey." When the tree is gestured towards, Reize tilts his head at the larger tree.

"Really?! That's great!"

The boy is already running ahead along the tree, hopping along it until he arrives near the nest.

"I see it!" He calls out towards Mickey.
King Mickey has posed:
But... Mickey is gone.

Its tough to see how it could be possible for anyone - even a small mouse like Mickey - to completely vanish from sight in the middle of a desert with no real place to hide or go to. But he does. As soon as those words have been spoken, there's no real doubt in him any more - he's helped Reize out, and Reize, it seems, is part of a much bigger goal. Wheels are turning in this place, and the Shard Seekers are one more piece of the puzzle...

... but The King can't let himself be drawn into that, as much as he would love to be, right now. There's too much else he has to uncover, too many other places to see. Too much to do. Besides, he tells himself, it isn't like he's /really/ abandoning Reize. He's certain that he'll see the boy again.

And if he doesn't say goodbye, in a strange kind of way, it is almost like he isn't saying he's leaving him behind at all!
