A couple of months ago...
DAY 1: January 7th
"Class, I would like to introduce our newest member of Alexander Academy, Seloria Delacreaux." Professor Elizabeth Darcy looks up at the door, beckoning in the green haired girl there, quietly sighing to herself as Seloria steps through the door, out of uniform... sort of.
Dressed in the Academy's swim club swimsuit, and a green wrap skirt that brushes the top of her sandals, the Levitani looks at her teacher calmly.
"Miss Delacreaux, this is your one warning. Please be in uniform tomorrow, or you will be given detention."
DAY 2: January 8th
Professor Hanaaloha Glyphan looks across the table at Professor Darcy in the break room, shaking her head. "I don't know what is up with the Delacreaux girl, but she is off the charts we have in regards to her magical power. I understand she came from a home-schooled environment, but she's got to participate more."
Elizabeth raises an eyebrow at the talented magic user. "How do you get someone who can summon and maintain the divines and speak with them to participate in a class she probably could have tested out of, if she had come in during the start of the school year?"
Hana rolls her eyes. "She just doesn't participate, it's another demerit on her school records, though. Nothing can be done about that."
Elizabeth nods.
DAY 3: January 9th
Seloria shows up both late and out of uniform to English class, her chin stuck out stubbornly in the poofy skirt and swimsuit combo. (It's one of the most popular outfits she made for herself - well, except for the swimsuit, she brought that.)
"Detention, Miss Delacreaux. Tomorrow night, at 8 PM after dinner. My office. Be there promptly." Professor Darcy notes.
Seloria blinks, then walks out of the classroom.
Elizabeth, astounded, stares at the door as it swings shut. "Two detentions?" She manages to get out, not that the summoner heard her.
DAY 4: January 10th
8 PM rolls around, and in her office, Elizabeth Darcy awaits for Seloria. After five minutes, she puts out a call on the intercom, in case the girl forgot about the detention. At ten minutes, she calls into the dorms. At fifteen minutes, security is searching the grounds.
At 8:30 PM, she is found and hauled up to the office, dripping wet in just her swimsuit, having been out for a unapproved night swim in complete defiance of the teacher's orders. Seloria looks tired and upset, with a weariness to her movements and a quietness that Elizabeth suspects may have to do with being at the academy itself.
"... detention after school, all of next week. Swimming privileges suspended, am I understood?"
Seloria just nods, mutely, then is escorted out of the room.
DAY 5: January 11th
Professor Darcy looks up while taking role. "Delacreaux?" A few seconds later: "Delacreaux?" A few minutes later, in case she was late: "Delacreaux?"
Still no Seloria.
Professor Darcy sighs and makes a note in Seloria's account.
DAY 6: Parent-Teacher Meeting
Elizabeth Darcy shakes the hand of a dark-green haired woman, slim and about Seloria's size. "Mrs. Delacreaux, please, thank you for coming. Take a seat. Would you like some tea?"
Amynra waves a hand with a laugh. "Oh, not, it's quite alright. I was told that... Seloria was having some problems settling in? Skipping courses and detention, and the like?"
Elizabeth nods.
Amy gives the professor a quirked smile. "Seloria has never been in a straight, scheduled school situation. On a daily basis, she puts more time in the ocean than she did on land, and did my husband not get a important job purview under his wings, it is more than likely that my daughter would be becoming a mermaid once she hits adulthood, rather than a summoner like he wants her to be."
Elizabeth stares. "We're Levitani, Professor Darcy. Since she learned to swim, she has done so, and it's become a ... integral part of what she is and what she does. Let her swim when she wants too, just outside of class hours. You'll find it improves her ... ability to care, let us say."
"Just give her time."
DAY 7: January 14th
Professor Darcy looked at the paperwork sitting in front of her, and sighed. The English teacher for upper ranks of Alexander Academy - including the Behemoth Class - had been put in charge of the new transfer student, who had come in after the winter holidays, and at that, come in late.
NAME: Delacreaux, O. Seloria
CLASS: Behemoth
CURRENT STATUS: After-school detention for a week, as ordered by E. Darcy
"Miss Delacreaux, you understand that if you continue to skip detention, we will suspend you, and maybe even eject you out of Alexander Academy without giving your parents a refund of the tuition amount?"
Seloria gives her Professor a look. "They didn't pay." She points out, calmly.
Elizabeth rubs her temples, shaking her head. "Just come to detentions. I will write you a pass to use the pools out of hours, is that okay?"
Seloria bites her bottom lip. "Including the outside pools?"
"... yes." Elizabeth finally agrees, reluctantly. She knows Seloria is a Levitani, and skilled in protecting herself. The resulting response is a true smile from the teenager, the first one Elizabeth's seen on her face.
"Oh, thank you! Thank you so much." Seloria says, with a big smile on her face, before she bounces out of the room.
