Cast of Characters: | Leon |
Fun nights in Manhattan. Movie the next day to follow. Learning the lingo of the worlds. Learning the things he had not experienced in his time locked away from the sun and from the night sky. The world opened up to him once more, yet the heart yearns. The heart misses what it could never have anymore.
'Brother!' a female voice calls out in his dreams. 'I hit the mark!' her dark raven hair moving in the spring breeze, a bow in her hand and smile on her face. 'Well sort of,' she says pushing a bang aside, 'But I still did it, Leon!'
'The is great!' you reply. 'You were indeed a bit off, so here. Let me show you again. Now watch closely, Maria.' A bow string is drawn back, the arrow held close. A calm breath escapes the lips before the arrow suddenly flies. It hits dead on in the center mark. Though before you speak another voice comes over the grassy hill from a silver haired young man with a smile on his face.
'I see the rumors are true, Leon,' He says with a laugh. 'You are as deadly with a bow as your sword.'
Maria laughs softly, before she runs over to give the silver haired young man a hug. 'Firion! You made it! I bet you can put my big brother in his place.' She says with a playful wink to you both.
You simply laugh before you say with a gentleness in your voice, 'Of coarse he could, if he would try harder.' There was a slight hint of playfulness there.
Yet the image fades and fades into darkness. A time long ago. When Maria was still young, only thirteen maybe. Perhaps fourteen. A time of good memories. A time of laughter. A time before the fire...
Mateus..
Leon's eyes snapped open from where he laid, which happen to be on a couch with his one leg on the arm rest and the other half off. He stared at the ceiling before he quickly sat up, pulling the blanket off him. His breath was heavy for a moment, before he stared at the darkness on his hands. The seething, rolling darkness. His red eyes narrowed as he tried to will it away. Remaining silence. Remaining quiet as his eyes peered across the room to where Rena slept in the bed.
His companion so far through these tough times. Perhaps-- the only person who is holding together his sanity. Reminding him in her small ways that he is still human.
He glances at the scars over his bare chest, before he allows his arms to come to rest down on his knees, gently flicking the cloth pant legs.
He rises up and walks quietly, like the hunter he was before the war came. His steps quiet and soft across the wood floor. He opened up the closet and pulled out a shirt, throwing it on before using his fingers to brush back his hair.
He then took a piece of paper and started to write on it. Writing Rena a letter before stepping out of the room and leaving her behind some gil on the table for a breakfast on him.
Dear Rena,
I left you some gil to get yourself something to eat this morning or do with however you see fit.
The Market was rather busy so early in the morning. The Port of Luca busy as ever and with a ticket purchased to set sail for Wutai that evening. A two tickets at that. Yet it was not these tickets that had him warning the sea side city. He was out looking for armor and for a sword. Something for both protection and for use of combat. After all, he was once more in the World of Ruin. He figured eventually he would run into Mateus or those who would work for him.
I have gone out to purchase some armor and a sword for combat. So far things have been rather smooth, but I have a feeling things are about to get rougher. I wanted to also thank you-- thank you for everything.
Once the armor was purchased, he carefully bundled it up and placed it into an over shoulder bag at which he carried. This lead him down to the weapon's store next. Where he tried out several different swords until he found the right weighted one. Then bought a proper scabbard for it.
Leon then started to slowly move across the white tile ground and staring up at the fountain. His brows furrowed as he found an old news article laying on the ground. He carefully knelt down and picked up the old article.
You have shown me how to live again. How to breath once more even with the weight in my heart. You have reminded me that I am still a person under it all. I am still human. I don't think no matter how high I climb a mountain, or how deep into a valley I go, I could ever repay that.
Leon reads over the article before his eyes go wide. His red eyes skimming over the article as he realizes what it is about and it slowly slips from his hands. His eyes gazing around him where he stands. Slowly lifting to the very fountain that was in the article. The very article that covered the events of a Dark Knight taking on heroes of Luca. Where /he/ had stood in this very place and battled people under the persona he knew nothing about. "..by all that is holy.." Leon whispers as he staggers a step back to lean against the wall.
"..How much.. have I done?"
Soon though, I will be heading for Wutai. There I plan to speak with the woman who freed me from the state that Mateus had placed me in. Who broke those chains. I know you have told me some details but she may know even more. If I am to free myself from the man who tricked me, I will need all the information I can gather to do this.
There has to be away. There must be away. I plan to find away. Even if it takes me twenty, fifty, hundred years. I will find the means to free myself and you have given me that hope, Rena.
Those red eyes suddenly glance up as he hears the sound of a ball drop on the ground. A young boy staring him directly in the eyes. Those green eyes looking into Leon's own red eyes. Leon then looks down as the ball rolls toward his feet and suddenly notices the darkness attempting to pool under him. He grits his teeth slightly, before he looks back up at the kid who's mother was already picking him up.
Leon glances to one side, then to another as people start to stare at him slightly. He gives a sheepish smile and then quickly starts to walk the other way now. Just keeps walking as he tries to once more will himself control of the very ability he has yet to even /grasp/ any control over. If he keeps willing it, maybe the darkness will just fade away. Just /will/ it away for a bit of time.
I hope you will also come with me, to Wutai that is. I will have purchased an extra ticket for you and the ship sets sail this evening. I am told it not a long voyage and a very beautiful city by its own rights. Maybe I can even find a place for us to stay where you have access to a spa or something. But-- that is your call if you like to come or not. Just, I hope you do. It would be a lonely road without you, Rena.
He continues to walk. His foot steps soon turning into a blind run as he just runs outside of the city for a moment and nearly crashes down onto his knees on the grassy ground. His hands slamming into the ground as he just hunches over.
Leon's breath is ragged, on edge. He expects to hear the people crying out 'monster' next. To hear the roaring steps of people. Yet none of it comes. No yells. No screams. No throwing of pitch forks. He just closes his eyes and slowly starts to calm his nerves. "..you are not a monster.." He whispers to himself. "..you are not a puppet.."
Let me know when I get back, Rena. Either way. I am glad fate has tied us together, even if it may end here...
Sincerely,
Leon slowly stands up once more, brushing himself off as his nerves calm. He picks up the bag once more, along with the scabbard that holds the sword. He then inhales deeply before he starts to make his way back inside the city. Making his way carefully back to the Hotel where he will see what fate could hold for him next.
