Esthar is an enigma to the world around it. Known as the 'Silent Nation', most question whether the country still exists as it hasn't been heard from since the Sorceress War or more recently, the darkness having swallowed up the world. The country is hidden by a cloaking field which makes its continent appear empty and safe from the prying eyes of the world around it. When Esthar does act beyond its borders, it is usually related to rumors surrounding a possible Sorceress in the world. Within the closed borders of the eastern continent is a land of marvel. Esthar's technology far exceeds anything its world has to offer, especially in space travel and exploration. This technology has been applied to methods in order to safely seal off the power of Sorceresses who happen to catch the attention of the Silent Nation. While most of Esthar's marvels are kept within the borders, some of the developments by Doctor Odine are allowed to be exported for the betterment of the world around Esthar. This exportation of the Odine brand is responsible for the creation of 'Para-magic" employed by such forces as SeeD and is the main reason some still believe Esthar still exists. Once ruled by Sorceress Adel, the government is currently headed by a people's choice President for life--Laguna Loire. President Loire oversees that the nation remains safely hidden and that the errors of the past are never repeated. Part of this is seeing that Sorceress oppression isn't allowed to take root and that major Esthar military hardware isn't allowed past its borders. The military is the only offensive branch of Esthar. Working more like a security force, the military's primary goals are to prevent anyone from gaining access past the cloaking field and to deal with threats to Esthar's security. The military force is made up of both soldiers and machines who use both magical and offensive tactics. Currently, the nation has gone silent since the Darkness came. Believed to be swallowed up by the Heartless, there is rumor of a trio of survivors attempting to discover what happened to the great nation.

History

The president rules this nation from the palace in the center of the city, though the title is more symbolic than anything - and most of the political affairs are handled by the aides and the rest of the government. The city keeps itself hidden from the rest of the world by a cloaking device that renders the city invisible to anybody.

This nation is known for its incredible technological might - and the source of the Sorceress War as well as the one which ended it. There used to be but one way of entering this city... until the Heartless came.

After Edea's rise to power, Esthar soon found itself overrun by a dark enemy - the Heartless. They held out well, but as the world began to fade around them... it would seem this nation has been lost to heartless.

Its President and his two friends ended up being outside of the city to investigate the influx of Heartless, and ended up appearing into the new world - and are sure to be trying to seek out what happened to Esthar.
