After Maleficent was defeaten thanks to Ventus and Aqua, Maleficent managed to steal Aurora's heart. Without the girl's knowing, driven by his pure and True Love for her, the man forces his way through the darkness into the Hollow Bastion and recovered Aurora's heart. But in doing so, he corrupted his body with darkness.
Now, he sits atop his throne in the Enchanted Dominion, having fooled Aurora into leaving what she thought was an empty castle, and keeps the area safe from heartless.
