“Fr@cture”
Date of Cutscene: 25 October 2012
Location: Traverse Town
Synopsis: Auron is irritated because he can't continue his last mission.
Cast of Characters: Auron

Auron is not a patient man.  Even if he can feign patience with the best of them, he rarely truly feels it.  And this overly lengthy stopover in Traverse Town is just the thing to raise his ire.  With the situation.  With that man with the flaming hair.  But mainly, with himself.

The worlds are shattered and he sits idle.  Sin is still around, and he sits idle.  Braska’s daughter is lost, wandering somewhere, and he sits idle.  Jecht is still in torment... and still Auron sits idle.

It seems he’s just as useless and incapable while dead as he was alive.

What am I to you?  Nothing more nothing less
Can I continue living on with these regrets?
What else can I say?  Nothing more nothing less
Am I so broken that I fail to see what’s left?

This is not something he can afford to take too long in.  He knows Jecht can only keep his sanity for so long inside Sin.  And with the added threat of these ‘Heartless’, it’s going to be doubly hard for Jecht to keep himself together in there long enough to help them.  To say nothing of his own situation....

Falling falling faster yet... with this pain, this regret
Faster faster, move your feet. There may be nothing left
Falling falling faster yet... with this pain, this regret
Faster faster, move your feet. There may be nothing left

He didn’t know how much time he still had. Ten years had already passed.  He had already forgotten what it felt like to be alive.  How much longer would it be, he wondered, until he finally succumbed to the fate of all who endured beyond their deaths and became a fiend himself?  Would he force Tidus to end his existence then?

Just like Tidus would need to do with Jecht.  Before Jecht lost all sense of humanity entirely.

It’s not that Auron wanted to put Tidus through the trauma of having to kill his father.  Auron doesn’t want to have to raise his sword against Jecht. But they had no choice.  It was the only way.  Besides, if his theory was correct... Tidus wouldn’t have to mourn long.

Set Me Free Can’t You See That I’m Fracturing
Set Me Free Can’t You See That I’m Fracturing...
Set Me Free Can’t You See That I’m Fracturing......

But more than that.  If they’re to free Jecht, and all Spira—and possibly all the worlds—of Sin, it will have to be done.  As much as he didn’t want it. But this wasn’t about what Auron wanted.  It was about what Spira—and Jecht—needed.  His story had ended.  It was time to close the book on the ‘Sin’ chapter of Spira’s story.  It had been long enough.  For him and for Spira....

Set Me Free Can’t You See That I’m Gone......
