Profile
A Shivan and the second eldest of a family of six, Rena lives a life as harshly torn and divided as that of her people. A daughter of the Hrimthur clan, her father was a shaman in high standing whose outlook matched that of much of the clan. Their view on outsiders and the modernization of the land of the first frost was decidedly and violently grim.
When Rena and her elder brother were both afflicted with a wasting sickness that their father and other shamans could not cure, their mother, a hard headed idealist enamored with the cities refused to bow to the dictates of the Ice. She fled with them to the sealed cities. There they were able to be properly treated and eventually cured, though it left them both scarred and her brother weakened by the protracted ailment. Over time, with the help of relatives and extended family also fled to the cities, her sundered family clawed it's way out of debt and the Dynatics Trading Company was founded. Due to several breakthroughs and perhaps more than marginally shadowy deals, the merchant house swiftly became a force to be reckoned with.
Isolated from the world she knew and the family she left behind and isolated again by Alexander Academy, Rena is a giant of a woman with a mercurial personality that is at once guarded yet outgoing. She keeps her own council, listening and watching the actions of others while resisting any one specialization. She finds all paths in life meaningful in their own way, perhaps because she knows the consequences of forcing your way. She is a peacekeeper and a diplomat, trying to find compromises and solutions to problems without resorting to force yet struggling to integrate the often contradictory nature of the old ways with the new.
