Through some luck, work, and empathy--Mercade Alexander successfully managed to find Dion Sarenze and convince him that his wife hasn't ended up a horrible possessed monster of deathly doom. Baigan successfully convinced Dion that there was some crazy stuff going on in Baron by having his arms turn into snakes. And on top of that, Mercade encouraged Dion to not spill the beans which gave him time to get out of the city. He may have been a loyal dragoon but when your immediate superiors start having snakes for arms, it makes one question life choices.

Dion Carenze arrives at the TDA with his family, an elder daughter in her teens with some martial training, and two young twins (boy and girl). He plunks down a modest sum of Baronian gold and asks to see his wife. He is polite enough to hang his helmet off a hatrack. It is heavy enough it might break one of the hatrack's arms, however, for which he apologizes should the quality be that low.

With some wrangling, Sarafina can easily be called in to meet her family. She's hesitant at first but ultimately ends up making the visit. After some emotional hoohah, the two decide that staying in Baron isn't really proper for their family and, really, rather unsafe. Dion gives Sarafina a glowing review of Mercade's handling of the situation and Sarafina is pleased enough that she offers free rides on the ship for the forseeable future. Just give a call, she says. The Red Chocobo is a fine vessel, if sparsely staffed. One notable member is a Hummingway (a small rabbit creature) who carries a bundle of maps of the World of Ruin on his back. He calls himself 'Gangway' and he is a scamp.

One issue is that Dion Carenze is now unemployed. Thanks to being able to be relatively quiet about it, Dion was able to retrieve some funds before escaping his home but even if he could live comfortably for a while, he is the sort of man that desires work and while Sarafina does have her mercenary crew, it's implied that the two aren't comfortable combining their professional lives as well as their personal ones. Not healthy for a marriage, Sarafina comments. Dion requests a job, and room for his family. He is a capable warrior and can ease into the life of a door guard well. He isn't accustomed to Manhattan yet but is, conversely, perhaps a bit more accustomed to dealing with monsters than the average new york door guard. He has no idea how payscales work and can't be arsed to figure it out, relying on his trust in Mercade to be fair about it.

UNLOCKED:

ALLY: DION CARENZE - A dragoon formerly employed by the Baron Military. He enjoys telling stories about his military work, stealing food from the fridge (which he finds to be an incredible marvel), and scaring troublemakers who get too close to the front door. He is courteous when he needs to be and something of a charmer, apparently considering part of his duty to lure in clients. He carries himself like a noble and amiably accepts most of which he doesn't understand except for rudeness, which he tends to take objection to. He buys a television after about a week which he hogs and barely lets his children watch.

THE RED CHOCOBO - Stolen Baron airship. It cannot leave the World of Ruin due to the limitations of portals but you never know when you need some artillery. It's a small, quick ship but it cannot land in forested areas or particularly mountainous regions.

TWO RIDING CHOCOBOS - Dion had to get to Manhattan somehow. They're pooping everywhere!!

MODEST REWARD - Dion lost a lot by leaving Baron but he was able to secure some Baronian gold. Sea Salt Ice Cream for everyone!
