A beggar nearby taps the ground with a dark wood staff, begging for spare change. Mercade grumbles, wiping the dirt from his face and tossing a few Munny into the hat as he walks by.

Meanwhile, In Fluorgis...
Date of Cutscene: 05 December 2012
Location: Fluorgis
Synopsis: Mercade tries to follow up on a lead to locate someone to help with the Heartless problem in Manhattan. He loses a little something...
Cast of Characters: Mercade Alexander, Riku

The lush city is a nice contrast to the desert. Normally, Mercade Alexander hates the desert. But Fluorgis is a pretty nice place. Water, greenery, lack of huge amounts of sand, the presence of shade, and NO HEARTLESS.

At least for now.

The Detective has come to Fluorgis to ask the locals about the presence of Riku. He said he was with Reize, so the best place to get an idea of where he is would be Fluorgis, right?

Little did he know Reize was in Manhattan, getting caught up in the chaos there.

The streets weren't too busy. Plenty of room for him to move. He walked through the area, considering the locals and taking in the wonder that was a city of another world. It was like stepping back into the past, for him. A place like this might have existed thousands of years ago on Earth...

And then a Moogle walks past, or a Gria or Bangaa, neatly shattering the illusion with their alien presence.

He sighs. "I'm a long way from home..." He turns, making his way around the corner from a merchant's stall, when he suddenly trips over a rolling pot. With a yell, the detective crashes to the ground. He starts to look up, but something bounces on his head, causing him to eat a faceful of dust and sand. Mercade yells, pulling himself up and dusting himself off, looking around just to see a robed, turbaned man sitting and snoozing in the late afternoon sun next to a bunch of pots. A beggar nearby taps the ground with a dark wood staff, begging for spare change. Mercade grumbles, wiping the dirt from his face and tossing a few Munny into the hat as he walks by.

It's not until Mercade rounds the corner into the Shard Seekers HQ that the robe falls away from the merchant, revealing the gray, sandworn clothing and the yellow eyes of a Bandit Heartless. It dances past, dropping a small device into the hat with the Munny, before vanishing into the Darkness. The pots at the stall follow suit, quickly sprouting legs and then vanishing into the dark pools.

With a quick movement, the beggar picks up the device, A Ma Belle phone from Xanatos Enterprises. It chirps with a pleasant, jazzy tone, only for the voice of Will Sherman to bellow out, "Mercade! Mercade, are you there?" The folds of the robe drop away slightly, revealing a scornful smile, moments before a dark fire erupts from the hand, burning the device into nothingness. The voice of Will dies with it.

The 'beggar' gives a simple "Heh." before standing, moving on with a tap of the dark staff.
