| Initially a small kingdom prior to the Galtean Allicance, Archades gradually increased its power, eventually becoming Ivalice's mightiest republic state. It is a powerful Empire with great technological advancements, including a fleet of powerful airships which have allowed them to slowly expand their empire, and a powerful military forced, equalled by few. While not in control of all of Ivalice yet, they currently control both Dalmasca and Rozzaria in addition to Archades.
The Archadian Empire is largely ruled by an Imperial Senate, although they lost most of their power more than 200 years ago when a law system consisting of powerful Judges was introduced, in order to ensure that the Empire's rule is absolute. The Judges are themselves a combination of supreme court, military commanders and elite guards to the House of Solidor; Powerful soldiers in impenetrable armour. The Emperor is chosen from one most active and particularly skilled within the military ranks. When Lord Vayne, son of Emperor Gramis came of age, the Senate feared his power and his cunning and sought to have him removed and replaced by his younger son, Larsa. When Vayne discovered that his father wished to place Larsa on the throne above himself, he murdered his father and framed the head of Senate, Chairman Gregoroth for the crime. With the backing of the Judges, he arrested the entire Senate and took over absolute control of the empire. | |||
History
Not long after Vayne Solidor was crowned, a new force appeared from amidst the chaos of threatening war. The Heartless. Some rumor that these strange beasts came from Archadia, others claim they come from Rozarria. In truth, a gate had opened from the castle to Gaudium - and through it came Oscha with an offer to share his forces of Heartless, which he'd been granted by a 'mysterious benefactor'. Along with Venat's help, Vayne began to use this force...But it was realized what was going on, their world began to fall to darkness - but Vayne Solidor still to this day, holds rule over Archades and Rabanastre.
