In an instant, the doubt was washed away. This was the way. The pain was overwhelming as the light poured out of her. Had anyone been able to spot Avira through the blinding corona around her, they'd see her grimacing for a few moments before becoming slack.

In her next moment of awareness, there was a massive archway before her, flanked by ornate double doors. The doors were parted open and beyond that, light. Beautiful blinding light.

Drawn towards it, she stepped forward. "...this is it..." she heard the voice, it was her own, though it hadn't felt like the words came from her lips. Her movement forward hadn't actually felt like a true step. "...I am spent...I can return."

"Anyway, look at you now. You're strong. Strong and beautiful. Nothing more charmin' than someone that can stand on their own two feet."

She stopped. That voice...

"You'd be surprised how far a loyal wolf will go."

A different voice, but Avira recognized it too.

"You're still you. That's what it is. No matter what's happened, you're still you."

She wanted to cry. "I encourage you to believe in them, as I am certain they believe in you."

Avira stopped her slow ascent to the doors. "...I can't..." she whispered.

"She always told us to chase with our hearts, not our feet."

"I can't go. I can't leave them." Avira sighed.

""That won't happen to you Avira. You won't be a Heartless. There is darkness, yes...but your light is stronger. You have to have hope."

As if responding to that admission, the doors slowly closed, shutting out the beautiful light beyond. The doors lingered for a few seconds before vanishing completely, leaving her in darkness. Avira tried to look at her hands, but there was nothing there and as seconds passed, she realized she couldn't feel anything at all. Terror quickly began to settle in.

"So what I need to know from you is one thing. Are you and yours ready to face the Darkness, no matter what happens?"

The voices. The memories...

"I cannot imagine that birds and beasts have anything particularly interesting to say, mademoiselle...but if you feel it is so useful, I can only imagine what you might find."

The memories had direction-her heart sensed this easily, and Avira followed. No matter how long it would take, she would find them again.
