History

Ulharisk story takes place in the modern culture of their world. In a time where their village was rather large, perhaps around a two thousand lived within the walls of the village. Protecting them from the monsters that lived in the dark woods to the north and west and up in the mountains that surrounded the entire valley.

The Draconian was born to the leader of the Draconian people, the head of the Guardians, Chaltiu. His mother was Sistatore, a woman of great strength and was known for being at the time one of the few female huntresses of their village. Ulharisk had a rather easy life growing up thanks to the fact he had an older brother who was five years older then him named Vuthacaex. While his older brother had been trained since the young age of eight to be the future leader of his people. Ulharisk got the easy road of never, or believing, he never have to worry about such a responsibility.

So from his young childhood and into his young teen years. He would spend a great deal of his time adventuring around the village, sometimes trying to sneak out beyond the walls, and not taking his studies very seriously when it came to mana weaving, combat training, or even shifting. He was seen as a bit of prankster back then and constantly disrupting studies. It also didn't help his best friend, Svantie would sometimes be the reasons for many of his misbehaviors.
Perhaps because he was trying to impress her since he was young and they two of them almost could be found together. Including even rough housing, daring one another, and sometimes pushing the limits of what was allowed within their culture.

Sometimes they would even go as far as sending one another silent hand gesture messages during Ceremony Of The Sun, while trying to not get caught. Yet there was times they would get caught at this and so many of their other games. Ulharisk being scolded by his father on how he was disrespect to their family and why he couldn't he be like his older brother Vuthacaex.
In some ways Ulharisk was a little jealous of the attention his brother got, yet he did respect his older brother and sometimes Vuth, as he called him, would take him out with the others to sometimes the more dangerous locations when he became a Guardian. So even in his moments of jealousy, he did love his older brother deeply, just as he loved his father and mother.

Yet all these games and fun time would soon come to a crashing halt. Vuth one day did not return, along with several other guardians. Ulharisk at the time was Seventeen when it all happened and his laid back world started to collapse. The few Guardians who returned were heavily injured from a surprise monster attack on the southern border of the village's outer territory. Though they were able to drive them back a few of the Guardians were killed; Including Vuthacaex.
His father quickly sent out the elder members of the Guardians out into the southern wilderness to handle the encampment the monsters were perhaps trying to form, while he in another team went out to gather those who had fallen. By the next rising sun a funeral was held for those who had passed away. Nearly the whole village had gathered at the grounds to say their good byes, before the bodies were torched and the flames left lit for the rest of the day including into the night. Ulharisk found himself not only staying there all day, but returning the next morning to cry for the loss of his brother, to watch the smoke rising up into the blue skies.

Though his mother had comforted him of the day of the funeral, on this day his best friend came to his side to hold him close. Yet when his father approached she backed away and Ulharisk's father reminded him that it was no longer time to morn but it was time to be strong. For he was now to become the next leader after him. Ulharisk stared blankly at his father, unsure how to take this information he was given. Though he knew it was true, but he did not want to accept the truth. The truth that his brother was truly gone and now all the responsibility of the Draconians. That this village and those living in it would one day become his responsibility. All of it would fall into his hands. So when his father tried to call for him to come. Ulharisk did the opposite and ran the other way. Svantie quickly running after him, promising Chaltiu she would bring him back in one piece.

Ulharisk did return home before the sun set and by the next morning he did start his studies to become leader, but he did so in half anger and half grief. Part of him angered that his father did not seem to care or even seemed impacted by the loss of his brother, of his oldest son and slowly a rift started to form between them. This rift cracked when it came time to do his final trial to become a Guardian. When Ulharisk took fight, he attentional screwed up his final trial in front of everyone in the biggest way he could. By cheating the path to catch his light, but also doing so by shifting rapidly to human form, then right back in order to fly in and the shift once more back to human to land down on the very ground. Holding the orb of light in his hands, before he attempted to crush it. Attempted to crush it while looking his father directly in the eyes.

For nearly a week the two refuse to talk with one another, not even look at one another in the eyes. Ulharisk's mother who had been quiet during this whole event could no longer take it how they were both asking. She first dealt with her husband, trying to get Chaltiu to calm his own anger and come to understand that their son was not like his older brother. That this fate was thrusted onto him and he is not as disciplined. If he would show his son some understanding, show that softer side that she see's in him, that she feel in love with, that maybe Ulharisk would be more compliant and less, rebellious.

Once she got Chaltiu to understand and perhaps rethink things a bit she went to handle her son. Though in their culture to stay up from the setting sun to the rising sun was unheard of, beyond the Guardians on watch. That is what they did. Ulharisk and his mother. They stayed up all night speaking. Talking. She listening to his fears, his concerns, and his tears. Eventually she was able to get him off to sleep, and left him there to rest. Making sure none would disturb him, even his father, for if he desired to show Ulharisk any sign of respect; even if he was head of the house; this was the first step he would need to take.

So Chaltiu did just this. For that entire day Ulharisk slept and he slept all the way until the next day. After that though the young Draconian tried to take his studies more serious and his father spent more time in not only trying to understand Ulharisk, but trying to show him things as well, from his perspective of the world. Including taking him hunting along with him and the others of the village. Slowly the rift that was created was starting to mend once more between father and son.

In the second trial though. Ulharisk was nearly successful, but his attempt was foiled as one of the other young draconian taking the test quickly used Ulharisk as a spring board while in the air, shoving Ulharisk right into the cliff face. So when the bell rang and the test was over. Ulharisk did not catch the ball of light due to his injured wing. So though the others passed and he failed a second time. His father saw to the punishment of the one who took such an action. As not only was it not the Draconian way to act in such a manner but it was against Guardian customs. What the punishment was, Ulharisk never asked nor found out, but he heard it wasn't very pleasant and extremely tedious. A well deserved punishment for something that could have been extremely deadly.

After Ulharisk's Nineteenth birthday he went back in for his final time. This time determined he would pass the trail no matter what happened. He would make his father proud, his mother, and his brother watching high in the sun with their ancestors. Once the lights were released and the Draconians to be Guardians were given the go. Ulharisk took high into the skies. Not only did he take the lead through the path, but he stayed on the orb the entire time with it only staying maybe a claw length out from him. Yet as soon has they got into open skies he swooped down after it and caught it in his talon clawed hands.

Bring it before his father and the others before the bell rang. Holding it for all to see and returning it back into his father's hands once more before given permission to shift back to the human like form. Once the trial was over the celebration was held as each time before. Announcing the new Guardians and with pride in his father's voice saying his son's name and reminding everyone the linage of Ixen continues on as it will forever continue on under the sun.

However as the sun started to set and those started to return a strange event took place. Several dark portals were suddenly opened around the edge of the village. One of the portals that opened out stepped an unknown figure with very simple words that he spoke directly to Chaltiu, "I bare you a gift from Whe'ir." They rose up his hand a massive dark spear of what looked like black ice pierce right through Chaltiu. Sistatore quickly ran to her husbands side, while Ulharisk started to charge right at the unknown figure with his Glaive in hand. However before he could get in close dark creatures with gold eyes started to pour out of the many portals surrounding them. The walls quickly tore down in the same process by the monsters that were outside the village. The events not only halting Ulharisk's chance to find out who the person was but also in just seconds the Guardians and the people were becoming quickly outnumbered and overpowered by not only the monsters but these new creatures from the darkness.

Ulharisk tried to get back to his mother, however his attempt to get back to her way quickly barred by a large black creature that threw him back and right into one of the buildings. From there Ulharisk shifted form and tried to breath down fire at the very dark creatures. Burning the monsters but seeming unable to harm the dark beasts. During the chaos he heard Svantie's yell in pain. Ulharisk quickly turned his attention that way while yelling out orders to the Guardians who were near by as they continued to try and gain some ground. Yet no matter how hard they fought it was a losing battle.

Ulharisk quickly got to Svantie's side and tried to get her free from the rubble she got herself trapped in. His claws digging and pulled away at the fallen lumber as he tried to get her free. Yet in his frantic attempts he found an ominous shadow form over him, before feeling a massive impact into his side. The sheer force sending him flying once more and this time when he landed. The sheer blow was enough that it forced his body to shift back in order to try and protect his energy reserves, but he found his world going dark. His vision started to blur from where he laid. His hand slowly out stretching for where Svantie was, with her name on the edge of his lips, before his hand collapsed to the ground and everything going black.

There was no concept of time. No concept of what happened. Just the battle. The pain from the strike. Then nothing. It felt like his body was floating, his mind swimming. He thought he heard a voice, maybe several. Ulharisk's eyes trying to open seeing what looked like a small shimmering light. He could feel his hand out stretching for it and he knew the words he whispered, "Mit'ir, one of light, give me strength..." He could feel his eyes trying to close once more and then suddenly a new sensation took him over. The feeling of drifting, before suddenly the feeling of falling. Falling from the very sky. Descending down and down. Yet soon his state of sleep was sharply awakened by the sudden impact into cold ocean waters and water trying to fill his lungs.

Ulharisk quickly swam up the surface, coughing and spitting out the ocean water, before a wave tried to crash him down into the sandy bottom below. Fighting with the pull of the wave, clawing at the sandy bottom, he tried to gain himself traction. Pulling himself forward, fighting even in his exhausted state, to move himself up the beachy surface.
Another wave crashing into his back side, shoving him forward into the very sand once more, before he forced himself to get back up, to crawl up the sand, struggling to pull himself up. Eventually with his will of determination he pulled himself up on the safer part of the beach away from the waters.

He looked up trying to gain his baring. Trying to get his eyes to focus on the world in twilight color, on a sign in the distance that said 'Traverse Town', before his arms at last gave out from under him and he collapsed once more onto the sandy surface. Because right now, sleep sounded like a great idea and perhaps when he wake up, this would all just be a dream...

Personality

Ulharisk by nidoriko.jpg

Ulharisk is a very noble individual at heart, but he is also very stubborn and bull-headed. To go along with this is his extreme pride. Though he doesn't always act like it, he has a great sense of pride of who he is, what his bloodline represents to his people, and what his future possibly now holds for him; or what it could have held for him.

Ulharisk is very protective of those in the need to be protected. He will risk his life to save others and get in the way of a blade if it meant for another to escape. He would risk it all if it means others could live on. To him, to sacrifice your life for a the greater good is worth it. To sacrifice your life so many can live, is greater deed then running like a coward.
Yet he is aware of the old saying, that sometimes it is better to run and fight another day. He knows of this and sometimes he does follow this as well, but if he must run, he wants to be the last to do so. Not the first. He wants to make sure everyone escapes before he attempts to escape himself.

The young Draconian also tends to be very curious and willing to try about anything once. He loves to explore and adventure into the unknown. Peer into caverns and fly into storms to challenge the very winds. He knows that every day could be his last and he wants to live every moment to its fullest. Death tried to take him once it would seem and so far he has been fortunate to survive. For him, this chance of living again is to not only solve the mystery of what happened to his people, his world, but to help those in his new 'home'.
Help them find their way and to lead them into a better tomorrow, if that is what it takes. Because perhaps in helping them, they too will one day help in return, and if they don't; So be it. To see a smile, to hear a thank you, is all worth it.

Ulharisk also respects honesty. He, himself, tries to be honest when he can. He can also be rather blunt and to the point. As such, he will sometimes try to avoid a question if he knows the answer may be a painful one, or he will attempt to warn before he gives the answer to the question being asked. He knows not everyone can swallow the truth, so if he has to break it down into small bites; then he will do his best to try too.

Because of what did happen to his world however, and his beliefs that he was raised with, he trusts no one of darkness; Perhaps never will. If they show any sign of dark magic such as controlling the darker elements are seen with heartless. He will give them a look of sheer dislike and distrust. Though he may give them a chance to prove themselves, he will always stay weary of them.
This places those that tend to align themselves with the Shadow Lords in a very bad place in his book and if any of them hurt his friends or even show their face around him. He will be willing to attack, if not later hunt them down in order to bring the fight to them; Before they can bring the fight to him. He is not afraid to start something and he will do everything in his power to also finish it.

Strengths

Guardian Knight

Mana Weaving: As a Guardian he is able to weave mana. Yet he is no master of this. He never took his studies very seriously like he should have. The best he can do with this is maybe conjure a fire ball in his hand. Walk up to a river and cause the water to rise up slightly before it crashes back down, or even maybe use to patch up someone's cut after battle. This may be something he may try to master later on his own or he may just not fully pursue it.

Regeneration: Ulharisk's body has the ability to regenerate when he is in his 'human' form. Yet he must be out of combat for this to work. Many wounds and severity of injures can heal on their own. Things like broken bones will need to be set back into place or tended too before his body can do the rest. He can not however regenerate new limbs, so if he loses an arm or a finger, its gone for good.

Stealth: Ulharisk knows he has never been the strongest of his people, but he knows he is rather agile. Many years of sneaking out and getting himself into places he shouldn't be into, has taught him the art of being sneaky. He is rather good at blending in, walking quietly, and hiding out when he needs too.

Heat Resistance: Ulharisk can tolerate a great deal of heat while in human form and even far better while in dragon form. Yet a direct impact of it from say a spell is very different, but such as walking around near burning buildings or having to run into one to save someone. So long as his skin doesn't stay in contact with a hot, burning surface for long, he wont get burned. Yet if he holds on for to long, then yes, he has a high chance of being burned.

Dragon

Mana Weaving: Like His human self, he is no master of this art. Yet thanks to being more in tune with the magical energy around him, he can perform some of these tricks a little better and show a little more control over magic energy. Yet he still falters compared to a true magic in the art.

Fire Resistance: Ulharisk as a dragon is far more resilient to fire, unless it is the magic kind. So if someone sets a house on fire, or a field a blaze. Ulharisk can walk right through the fire with little fear to his existence. Yet if someone was to throw a fire ball in face. It would leave a bit of a mark.

Blade Resistance: Blades can indeed leave some cuts in against his scales, but they don't make a deep impact into his body. His scales are rather resistant, but like all things a rather good hit or the right kind of swipe can sheer those scales right off his body.

Hot Breath: Ulharisk's fire if left on an object long enough can start to heat up steal to the point of melting it. He is capable of breathing extremely hot flames out from his mouth. However since he is typically on the move, no one has to worry about having their armor being melted to their skin. That and Ulharisk naturally will not hold his fire out for that long due to the ill effects it could have on him to have armor reach to that point of becoming melted steel. Is it possible? Yes. Would he do it? No.

Dragon Sense: Draconians are like dragons in some ways. Ulharisk has very keen hearing and eye sight. His scope of vision can see out further then most humans and he can hear sounds from a greater distance. His sense of smell is also better then most humans thanks to his tongue, but compared to a say a wolf/dog, he doesn't quiet match up.

Weaknesses

Guardian Knight

Soft skin: Like many people, Ulharisk has soft skin, even if it has a scaly feel to it. He can be cut easily by blades and by other sharp objects. Though his body can take a rather hard brutal bounding before it bruises, he is able to suffer many fates that humans also suffer. He tends to not wear heavy armor, because he truly depends on his speed; which sometimes doesn't always work against a trained eye. He also then has to depend on his Glaive to parry blows away from him.

Shinyies: Ulharisk like many of his kinda (perhaps even a reported truth of dragons elsewhere), even in his human form is distracted by bright, shiny things. It is very easy for him to lose his train of focus if someone was to flicker say a very pretty gem stone in front of his face and twirl it around. It would not take long for him to actually start to follow it and forget what he was talking about for a bit.

Magic Break: Ulharisk in human form and in his dragon form are both weak to magic. Since he has never mastered the true ability of mana weaving and many creatures of his world did not use magic. Knowledge of how to properly defend himself is not something he has yet to learn. In time though, he may over come this; or not. It depends on where RP will take him.

Cold Weakness: Ulharisk, though more tolerable of it in human form, can't stand the cold. Things such a frozen environments, winter wonderlands, and temperatures that allow snow fall, tend to cause him a great deal of discomfort. He is very sensitive to the cold and if the environment for a long enough time (or smacked with an ice spell enough times), he could actually pass out.

Voices: Dragon control methods and/or Beast master control voices can cause him a bit of headache in this form. Though they don't have any means to control him. They can bring him some discomfort this way and maybe cause him to give them a glare, but over all they can't really control him like this.

Dragon

Cold Weakness: Ulharisk can not handle cold temperatures and while in his 'human' form he is more tolerable of them, as a dragon he has barely any tolerance for it at all. The very cold can freeze up his body and shortly snuff out his ability to keep himself warm even internally. Cold magic has a similar effect on him, which leads to him quickly crashing down and passing out from the temperatures.

Voices: Those who can command dragons or those who have the power of beast master control can manage a chance to take over Ulharisk's mind while he is in this form. For those who are his friends, it is easier for them to reach out to him with this voice, but if someone tries to command him to turn on his friends, Ulharisk will fight against it and they have a chance of either succeeding or failing. Though breaking himself free from such a control is very much a headache in the making.

Piercing Weakness: Ulharisk is weak to piercing weapons. Things like lances, spears, and daggers (or when a weapon is used to impale), can pierce past his hard scales and impact the tough skin behind. Though his skin is tough and will cause some resistance to the impaling weapon, it is extremely painful and probably one of the few melee forms of weapons that can cause him the most injury.

Energy Consumption: Ulharisk while in his natural Draconian form eats up a great deal of his own energy while in battle. He can remain in this form during a fight for several hours, before his body tries to force him to revert back. While at rest, he can stay in this form for a day or two. Though he can ignore the needs of his body, there is a point; like all of us; where our body at last gives up and we fall unconscious. When this happens, his body automatically reverts back.

Out of Fire: Ulharisk can expend all the natural gases used in his body for flight and dragon fire. When these elements are used up it is extremely dangerous on him as it starts to take a massive toll on his body and leaves him unable to fly. As such the body naturally wants to revert back; though he can ignore this, but it will do him more injury then good.

Magic Break: See his Guardian Knight form.

Shinyies: Ulharisk is easily distracted by pretty things. Though this is a trait he shares with his other form, it is highly effective in this form as he will completely loose his train of thought. A draconian with a short attention span he can be.
