Profile

A somewhat quiet and mysterious individual, whose background is shrouded in heartache and loss. Having been used as a deadly weapon against her will to murder her own people, Cressida seeks a way to atone for her sins, and to break the curse that continues to haunt her. The Glabados church healed her and gave her a new purpose for living, and she now roams the shattered worlds, doing good deeds and helping whomever she can while searching for a permanent 'cure' to her condition. For some reason she tries to hide her true appearance from the world, attempting to appear as a mere human as she quietly hunts the Gaudium Lords.

Background

Cressida Merune was born the eldest child of the great werewolf leader, Brynhilde, of the Northern Werewolf tribe. Since birth, Cressida was destined to do great things. A fearless, noble child, she exhibited great skill and strength at an early age, and would often protect the younger, weaker members of her pack from their enemies. Cressida's tribe was predominantly female, with only a small number of low ranked males. The females did most of the hunting, the raising and more important roles, and they worshipped the wolf god, Fenris, who in turn granted a select few of them mysterious powers of the moon and all its associations (mystery, madness, confusion, chicanery, etc).

Cressida was believed to be a favorite of Fenris, and one of his most devoted disciples. This commune with the god extended as well to certain other attributes, such as some members such as her mother being able to discern divine prophesies, or being able to guide the dead to the other world or even to speak and see the dead from time to time. As fierce female warriors who excelled on the battleground and bathed in the glory of war, Brynhilde's pack were in many ways like the fabled Valkyrie of lore. Growing up, Merune was the role model of a great many younger wolves of her tribe, and it was believed that she may eventually become the Alpha leader of the pack, taking over from her parents. Although she had many friends, Cressida had fallen in love with the weakest member of the pack, a young lame wolf by the name of Norwin, they did everything together, from hunting for food to defending the pack, and sharing their deepest secrets and dreams with each other.

Merune eventually hoped to marry Norwin, believing him to be her fated white wolf, and yet it seemed everything was against them. Her father, a strict stern wolf, forbade it, as it would only bring shame to the pack. Cressida could only marry someone who was as high ranked as herself to lead at her side, but she was stubborn and argued endlessly with her parents.

During this time, the Northern tribe was at constant war with another werewolf pack led by Odin, who lived in the southern mountains. They would often clash over food and territory as both tribes were considerably large and powerful, stronger than any other packs in wonderland. Eventually, they drew up an agreement, and agreed to marry off Cressida to a member of the Northern tribe in order to keep the peace.

Cressida was heart broken and did not want to leave Norwin's side, but she also felt a duty to her people and to her tribe. And so the young silver wolf left the very next day to take on the journey on her own. She bade her final farewell to Norwin and to her parents before setting off on the long journey to the Southern mountains. However, she never did arrive there. Instead, she was suddenly attacked by a Gaudium Lord who sought to harness the powers of a werewolf for himself and his fellow lords. After a fierce battle, he captured her and brought her back to his lab, where he performed many gruelling experiments on her.

Cressida was strong, both mentally and physically, but eventually he managed to wear her down, turning her own weaknesses against her. He found and captured the weak Norwin on the same day as he had shadowed her, hoping to run away with her, and he killed the weak wolf in front of her horrified eyes, which served to successfully break her spirit. Torn and at a loss, Cressida was easily manipulated and brainwashed, infused with a mysterious dark mark that would curse her seemingly forever. The dark curse of the lords worked to push her to her limits in her wolf form, pushing her to the tipping point so that, while she grew immensely stronger, she was uncontrollable, a mindless feral beast that hungered and preyed on mortal flesh. In her human form, she was able to take control over her mind once more, but her spirit was broken to the point where she was unable to fight the curse as a werewolf.

With this new living weapon, the Gaudium Lord sent her back to her home tribe in order to test her might against them. Forcing her to transform into a wolf, the curse once more enhanced her own powers, and in a blind and uncontrollable rage, she brutally attacked and slaughtered more than half of unsuspecting tribe, who had let their guard down around their beloved friend and family member. Only too late did they realized that she could not be reasonned with, could not be brought back from the brink. Brynhilde had taken a small number of the strongest wolves out on a hunting trip, only to return to the bloody scene of her murdered pack. After this evil act was committed, Cressida was returned to the Gaudium Lord's laboratory, where she returned to her human form, to mourn over the loss of her friends and family. Her first instinct was to flee but where would she flee to, where did she belong? Perhaps it would be better if she simply died.

Castle Gaudium was a maze, and not easy to escape from. But when the heartless attacked, mass confusion erupted. Cressida was once again forced to do battle, although she struck out in a rage rather than to save her own life. But even she was outnumbered, and drawn into a vortex of darkness to appear in a strange new world.. She should have died that day, but either luck or fate interveened. Church Templars found her and fended off the heartless, taking her in and tending to her wounds. she slowly recovered yet had no desire to live as she remembered still the atrocious sins she had unwillingly committed back home. She stayed several months with the church, slowly recovering from her loss, and gradually finding a new purpose in life. She sgned up as a knight, fighting off the heartless, protecing the innocent..And seeking out the Gaudium Lords and searching a way to break the curse.
Perhaps, it was the only way she could atone for her sins..
