Finding Angantyr Vespar
Date of Scene: 13 December 2012
Location: Bare Desert
Synopsis: Avira leads VALKYRI after the missing Agantyr.
Cast of Characters: Katyna, Avira, Maira, Minerva, Angantyr Vespar

Angantyr Vespar has posed:
The trail has grown a little colder for VALKYRI. It was hard to trail someone, or find someone, who can travel through the space between the stars. However, there was one advantage. Avira knew Angantyr very well...

One such place, she knew, was on one of the beaches where the sands of the deserts of the continent came close to the ocean. It was a little known place, small...and not claimed by thy various resorts springing up. Too sheltered to be easily known about, too small to really have much of anything...

Walking up to the spot...you were right.

on the ground is the Dark Knight's armor, ripped open completely. It looks like as if two claws have ripped down the front of it, like someone tearing off a shirt. The indent it occupies is larger, by far, and thrashing has occurred here.

Other things are noticeable. A Ma Belle is sitting, open on the ground. There are black marks around two, and footprints of a smaller thing...human, walking up to where the armor was. It looks like it had also sat down near it too, literally right next to it. Marks of dark magic radiate from where the smaller figure was, and those sensitive could feel the slight feel of darkness from where the larger figure rested too.

Of course, if you needed any more proof. Angantyr's mace, sits head first into the sand at the feet of the armor. It radiates the darkness, a hungry feeling came it, as always.

Larger foot prints can be seen leaving the beach area, but the foot prints are irregular. They seem to be much larger, clawed even, but every so often they disappear. Looking around will eventually find the prints again, continuing. It is as if it is rapidly jumping forward every so often.
Minerva has posed:
Minerva feels the darkness and realise he's been here less than half a day ago if not even a shorter time ago. She looks back to her companions "He's been here and less than half a day ago. We should make haste before the trail grows cold." With the sun setting it should make things easier. She's had some experiance in such terrain but her desert surival skills were basic at best, still it was better than nothing. Such as she knew to only travel at night if possible.
Avira has posed:
Avira remembered those moments well, when Angantyr had confided in her that he liked the ocean. Beaches too-there was certainly a conversation or two held on the beach.

The posters that Avira had put out for Angantyr had not really brought back much. Therefore, they had to take it upon themselves to search. At least they could start with beaches-ones that weren't terribly populated since he would be turning into a terrifying beast of some kind. There was a place like that in the Dalamascan sands, in fact. Avira leads her fellow VALKYRI to this place.

Seems her hunch was right. The mutate spots the ruined pieces of armor and other affects that he's left behind. That phone...no wonder he ceased answering her. "...he's cut us of completely..." she murmurs, not discounting the fact that Maira at least was friendly with Angantyr. Avira's yellowed eyes fall upon the discarded mace. Stooping down, she picks it up, marvelling how easy it is for her to handle the weapon now. As a human, it was a struggle to pick it up with two hands. Now she only needed one.

"He was definitely here." Avira looks at the smaller footprints with a frown. "So was someone else." Her nostrils flare, "Some...dark thing."

The bigger footprints...well, Avira has no issues attributing them to Angantyr. "There, those. C'mon."
Maira has posed:
Maira has followed Avira, outfitted for the road. She's dressed in borrowed clothes again it would seem, wearing soft black leggings and a green tunic, with a borrowed cloak. She's wearing the new boots she bought in Manhattan with Aerith and Avira.

She stays close to Avira, watching her friend become more at home in her new form. She is moving more comfortably already. Of course, she will still want her old form back, but while she is the way she is, Maira would be glad if she could at least be somewhat more comfortable in her own skin.

When they come upon Angantyr's armor and weapon, Maira raises a hand to her mouth to cover her gasp. Seeing his armor in such a state and his mace abandoned sends a chill down Maira's spine that has nothing to do with the ghostly presence of Uist at her back.

"There's darkness here, floating free on the air...dispersing...but..." Maira trails off, looking toward the footprints. Who did those small prints belong to? Perhaps they would find out. Maira moistens her lips and moves forward, motioning for Uist to scout ahead, unseen.
Katyna has posed:
They hadn't stayed long in Traverse Town, before Avira had mentionned the sea..Beaches..Sand. For some reason she thought it'd be a good place to find her friend. Katyna wasn't too keen on meeting the guy whom she had fought with as Ember not too long ago, but fortunately she was just Katyna now.

As she follows after Avira along the beach, Kat is increasingly impressed by VALKYRI's leader's determination among other things. She would have made a fine Shadow Lord, and it's a tempting thought..But for now, she focuses on the task at hand.

And then they stop at the sight of footprints, discarded armour and a phone. How unusual. "Huh? Was there some kinda fight here?" She asks, pointing towards the clawed prints. Why else would he discard his armour? "Yeah, we'd better hurry.."

And she follows after the others, scanning the horizons for any sign of movement, sword held at the ready, just incase..
Angantyr Vespar has posed:
The residual darkness was powerful, but fading. If you could guess, those with darkness sense, could guess it's been hours. Following the trail would lead across the desert again, and luckily for the women that the sun was starting to set. It was cooling...

Well, cooling being relative for the desert, but it would get much colder at night. The sea breeze also offsets the heat, but turning away from it would lead you over the desert sands...

Maira's ghost flies off to search ahead. They can follow it quite a bit, across the sands to a nearby group of rocks. They were tall, large, smaller than a mountain. It is also good, because a sandstorm was finally ending, passing through to parts deeper. The tail ends here, but...

How familiar is the ghost with the desert? Maybe not much so, but perhaps that knowledge given to the group might give some insight to the others, who are familiar.

Lets hope someone did not ignore their Survival Skill.
Minerva has posed:
Minerva nods to Avira at the comment on heartless. "Could be, and it may also be his power. He is one of the most powerful Dark Knights I have ever encounted. He might rival the infamous Gafgarhion." She wonders if anyone the Darkness could have spit it, it would have been him. She puts that thought out of her mind howver. She notices the phone but she does not know of such things like Avira or even Maria might. So she leave dealing with the MA Bell to the but she's looking about as she spots a path and it's pretty hard to spot but she follows calling out "This wya." She notices something s she gets deepser along the finds the tarp.

"Seems someone tooks helter here.." She looks about for further clues.
Avira has posed:
"Looks like there was. Maybe with a small Heartless or something." Avira hasn't met Leida yet, though she has heard plenty about her. So the Leida footprints go unidentified.

Avira certainly has been growing more mechanically familiar with her new form. She's certainly a lot less clumsy as time wears on and they walk over the desert. She walks too...seems Avira still hasn't actually tried to fly yet.

Before they depart, Avira scoops up the left behind Ma Belle and passes it to Maira for safekeeping. The mace of Angantyr is carried rather than tied to one of her leather belts to avoid the weapon banging against her thigh as she walks. That mace felt...odd enough as it was and the last thing she wanted was it to dig hungrily into her own flesh.

Strangely enough, she can see flashes and glimpses of Uist every now and then, which does make the ghost easier to follow. For the most part, though, she relies upon Maira to keep track of the guardian spirit.

"I agree, let's move during the night. It'll keep our blood running. The heat is unbearable in the day." They reach the rocks and Avira investigates them, peering around, and noticing the end of a sandstorm. Her heart sinks a little as she knows that means any footprints would have been erased.
Maira has posed:
Uist is not terribly familiar to the desert, but he has a lifetime of vague memories in his unconscious to call upon, and the simple ability to be where he needed to be by his will. His senses for the darkness are keen, and if nothing else, he should be able to follow that.

Uist returns to Maira to report. The young woman nods, then motions for him to move off once more and keep following the trail. Maira can follow Uist. Their strange connection always lets her know approximately where he is.

Maira looks to the others, "Uist says it will get cold at night, but it shouldn't be a problem," she says with a hint of a smile. Hard to get cold when Maira is around.

Maira takes the Ma Belle and tucks it away in a pocket, looking off at the passing sandstorm with awe. She's never seen such a thing. "Wow..." she remarks, then catches Avira's expression of concern. "Don't worry...it isn't the physical footprints we are following, primarily. Uist says he can track him. I can feel it too...it...it's kind of hard to mistake the feeling in the air. It sort of...tingles," she comments, shrugging her shoulders a little as they continue. "Wish we had Faruja with us. We could fly atop the Wyvern again, see if we could spot him from above--" Maira facepalms. "Duh! Uist can do that too. He probably is already."

Maira reaches over to take Avira by the arm and give her a comforting squeeze. "We'll find him, AND we'll help him."
Katyna has posed:
"Or..Something.." Katyna murmurs quietly as she closes her eyes taking in the darkness and tasting it a little. Hmm, wait. That magic is familiar. Of course. Leida. She should have known she'd be out for Vespar's blood.

Kat quickens her pace, "Yes, let's hurry. It might be small whatever it is, but..That doesn't mean it's not strong." She continues to follow after Avira, thankful for the cool night air. Of course having something of affinity towards fire makes the heat more bearable, but even then Kat's no mage.

She pauses at the rocks, climbing them and peering around from the higher vantage point. "Wow, just sand everywhere. And the darkness is fading quickly. I guess some time must have passed, but now where do we go?" Ah yes, Uist. Katyna smiles at Maira. "Wow, that must be helpful, having a ghost friend around." Guess they'll just have to wait and see what he finds..
Angantyr Vespar has posed:
The Ghost...

The Ghost can see some darkness.

A large source of it seems to be somewhere in the outcrop of rocks. Going through or over it might be a issue, but it's not difficult to go through.

Those who have survival: Nobody in their right mind would be out in a sandstorm, that stuff can strip flesh from bones and is nearly impassible. It might be that he took refuge here, or if he did not...he's hurt somewhere up ahead.

The Ma Belle seems to be stuck in recording mode. Can Maira operate a cell phone? If she does... well, the file is quite large, apparently has been recording for a day. She can hear...hear it all. The sounds of someone being forcefully transformed into something else. Angantyr's cries as he screamed in agony...which slowly became more bestial.

Worse, she can hear the voice of a little girl. It is light, but 'Let me consume your pain...turn you into nothing' and various Leida-esc phrases can be heard...

Until she screams in terror as something goes wrong, screaming in denial...but not pain. A voice is heard...but not understood. The video on the phone can't record it very well for some reason.

Minerva finds a cave on her path around the cliffs, it's hard to see, but it's there. Getting closer one can find claw marks along the sides of the wall. It seems to go quite deep, in fact the only reason you could find it is that a protective tarp has been torn from the front of it, shredded...it was obviously a shelter of some type.
Avira has posed:
"I think I know what you mean, Maira." Avira says, peering out over the shifted desert. During their brief meeting days ago, she could feel that darkness of his far more clear than ever before. Even when he pulled her into that strange pocket dimension to fight her, she hadn't felt it so clearly.

Maira reaches over and hugs her arm. Avira smiles a little, which on her warped face is not the easiest thing to discern. There's mouth movement at least! It seems good!

She also looks pensive, "He wouldn't have survived in a fierce sandstorm unless his mutation made him /really/ strong." Avira comments, looking away, watching Minerva explore.

Then she pauses, "...I feel something. Something strong." She looks towards the rock outcropping. "Something VERY strong." It could be any number of things. Avira's heard stuff about the caves beneath Ivalice. Minerva immediately gets her attention when she mentions someone taking shelter.

"Right-wait, let me go first, just in case." Avira is assuming that her body can take a bit more punishment, especially from raging Angantyrs.
Maira has posed:
Maira can indeed work a cell phone. She came from a fairly technological world after all. Not that she could ever afford a cell phone then, but some people had had them, so she knew how they worked.

As they stop to examine the rocky outcrop, Maira looks to the Ma Belle and fiddles with it a little. "Huh? It's recording..." she said, stopping it and then waiting, to play it back. The sounds she hears cause her to shudder, all the small hairs on her body standing on end. "O-oh...that has to be Angantyr, but whose voice is that? I don't recognize it," it is creepy as all heck though! By Holy! That's scarier than Angan's darkness.

Uist returns to Maira, shaking his head as he relays his message. Maira chews her lips and looks toward the others to pass it along. "Source of that darkness is down below, there's a shelter down there...I think that must be Angantyr. It is very..." she trails off, searching for the right term. "--Volatile."

Which is about the same thing Avira is feeling. Maira looks nervous, but nods. "Yes. You should go first. He'll know you."
Katyna has posed:
Katyna frowns as she searches through the rocks, her pace quickenning. This..This could be ugly. Would she find two bodies here tonight? Or...

The Ma Belle starts playing voices back. Katyna's eyes narrow at the unmistakable voice of Leida. "Leida.." She murmurs to herself. What had she done to him? What was it about Leida that made even the other shadow lords wary around her? That caused Seith to abandon her twice to her own fate?

And then there is the screaming. Kat had heard screaming like this the day her world was destroyed, but still..It's a bit disturbing. She grits her teeth, clenching her fists. It brings back bad memories, memories that she wishes would be silenced..

Katyna starts to run towards the cave, following after Minerva once she sees the tarp. Sword still drawn, she glances at the others. "Be..Be careful. There's something down here. It could be dangerous." Her sword bursts to flame to light the way and she trudges forward, but gives pause when Avira takes the lead. "Stay close.."

What was it she was more afraid of, seeing an out of control Leida, or finding the body of her opponent, whom she wouldn't have the chance of defeating herself?
Minerva has posed:
Minerva had been trying to find Angantyr alng with the rest of VALKYRI it had been something to focus on, rather than the plight of Avira. Minerva couldn't do much more than track leads down or attempt to use her skills to bring down anything that interfeared. For all her skills purging such a tait to her friend was beyond her, or even her master.

She keeps up with the other members of the group. She did have her own lesser use of the darkness and an awareness of it's power. She might just be able to sense him. Just where could he be is the question?

"Humm how far away is he from here now would be the best question to ask."
Angantyr Vespar has posed:
The tunnel goes down...

The darkness is powerful here, more than normal darkness. The sword lights the way down, casting shadows but...what is worse, is that the light doesn't go as far out as it should. Hard to say why...

The tunnel goes a bit farther down. You think it might connect to something deeper, however, coming upon a turn, you see there is a side passage, a sort of large opening, scratches at the top indicate something went that way.

Inside, you see a small pool of water, a spring forming underground, and passed that point...

There is movement near the back. The sounds of something devouring something else is visible. Carnage and gore lead through the puddle, coloring it red, and the remains of a monster is visible...half eaten.

The figure eating is up ahead. It is...LARGE. Bulky, seemingly picking apart a smaller creature. Slowly, it wipes it's mouth, sensing your presence...

It turns to look right at you, glowing bright eyes framed by ram-like horns.
Avira has posed:
Before following, Avira does pause to listen to the reocording that Maira digs up from the phone. As the recording wears on, she grows more and more distraught. She reocngized Angayntyr's voice alright. But That othere one...well, Thora would like to believe that her friend did not go aroundd beating up little girls.

Everyone seems to sense that darkness within the caves too. "Darkness that strong, it must be him." It has to be. That strong feeling that floods her when she enters the cave is overwhelming. In spite of this, she presses on, leadimg to what she thinks could be him, picking past the small underground spring.

The second she sees movement, she stops, holding up a hand for her fellow VALKYRI to stop too. There was something back there. She could see it moving. Then, so soon, she hears it eating. Dissgusting. Yet...it kind of made her a little hungry to see half-eaten monsters lying around.

"...Angantyr...?" Avira calls out to the figure that turns to stare at them. She stares right back, refusing to back away.
Maira has posed:
Maira begins to feel claustrophobic as she descends down into the darkness of the rocks, into the womb of the earth. As they come upon what they can assume is Angantyr, the air reeks with the coppery smell of blood.

Maira stops at Avira's signal, nodding, and remaining quiet. Other than to ask this; "Should I make light?"
Katyna has posed:
Katyna continues down the tunnel in total silence. Ember eyes narrow as she touches the wall, feeling the claw marks, sensing the darkness all around them. This is getting more and more ominous by the moment. After what seems a long time, they finally reach the pool of blood and the stench causes Kat to wrinkle her nose.

"Huh, that much darkness..He must be powerful! Did the darkness..Overcome him?" She frowns, waving her sword around, but the light doesnt seem strong enogh to repel so much darkness. "Go for it, Maira.."

But she pauses warily when they come across that large creature in the darkness, glancing back at Avira. "Careful, he might not recognize you like this.." That goes both ways. Katyna freezes where she is, sword held protectively in front of her as she eyes the creature, straining to make out its form in the meagre light of her flaming sword.
Minerva has posed:
Minerva is moving carefully as they head deeper, the light isn't working right and the carnage? It puts her on edge. She grimaces what killed such a creature so brutally has her really wondering about it. She stares at the beast it's huge and has ram-like horns. The eyes however get her attention as she looks right at it.

"It seems this is about to become a fight, make ready."
Angantyr Vespar has posed:
There is a rumble...

The beast...the thing is fully paying attention to them now. It looks, wildly, around itself. Looking like it is trying to find a place to /not be here/.

The sword extended to it causes it to growl, it is not human, not even a little bit. Minerva's aggression does not go unnoticed either. The power it exudes is stronger, threatening.

However, Avira speaks towards him.

It does not attack, besides looking menacing and staring at them. "You do not listen, do you?" it finally rumbles. It's voice sounding like it is at the end of a long tunnel, wispy and distorted.

"Go. It is hard to control myself now. Even more so when people point weapons at me."
Avira has posed:
"...just a dim one, Maira." Avira suggests quietly, knowing that it's pretty hard to see down here. Even she herself finds it hard to see, due to the darkness the former knight exudes within the cave.

She's certainly being cautious, Katyna would notice, but at the same time she's not lifting the mace she's brought along in here. Nor is Avira going for the spine, which remains at the small of her back, even in her new form. When he appears agitated, Avira gestures with her claws, "Keep your weapons down."

As if to illustrate, she drops his mace with a clunk.

Avira steps towards that creature, now convinced it is him. "Angantyr...you shouldn't have done this..." she says quietly, locking eyes with him. Avira clearly does not want this to be a fight.
Maira has posed:
It's him...it's Angantyr.

"He is lost," Uist breathes, which earns him a sharp look from Maira. "No he is not," she tells him, determined. He's speaking to them. He is not lost.

"Lower your weapons, really...this is Angantyr, whatever he looks like," she says, stepping up to stand just behind Avira. She knows Avira is the right one to help Angantyr, but she will be here too, in case there is something she can do.

She smiles a little toward the beastly dark knight. She waves. "It's okay Angantyr...I'm so glad we found you. We were worried," she says, her tone genuine and warm. She makes a dim light, conjuring a ball of flame that then floats up above her head to shed some light in the darkness.
Katyna has posed:
Katyna blinks. "Ooh..It..I mean, he talked! Avira, I guess he recognized you!" It's enough to cause her to lower her sword enough to show she doesnt plan to fight him, but still using it as a light source as she backs away a bit. "Huh..He's right. We should probably leave him be." She has no intentions of 'saving' him..But she finds the interaction between the two of them..Interesting thus far.

"Alright..Just be careful, Avira.." Curiosity is what draws Kat's gaze back towards Vespar again, even as she keeps more of a distance from him than the others. He may have reason not to attack them, but she is a stranger to him.
Minerva has posed:
Minerva takes a step back this is getting crazy or her. She stares for a moment s she hears the voice. She stares for a long moment she's now reducing her posture as she starts to understand what might be going on here, this is bad, very bad. She is taking a step back not wanting to set him off she's clearly not seeking a fight at this point. What in the name of the light is going on here?. "All right Avira you know better than myself."
Angantyr Vespar has posed:
Angantyr rumbles...

"What would you have me do, Avira? It was the only way to get the cure." he says, the strange modulation was still there. With more light...there was a mark on his forehead, a violet colored circuit like mark.

"You will have your cure. If there is one thing...I can do...in this world to create a little light, then it will be that." he says, stepping back. His eyes looking at Maira and then the spirit.

"It's not wrong." he says, with another rumble. "The darkness...it is strong now. Stronger than ever...it constantly eats at my thoughts. My emotions.." he continues. "Go. Leave this place...leave me. Forget about me."
Avira has posed:
Katyna, no, Ember is likely having an absolute field day with this.

It is fortunate that Avira cannot hear Uist, merely catch glimpses of him, or the young huntress might grow infuriated by his words-an ugly thing no less. Yet even with all the rumbling and growling, she takes another step towards him, spotting the mark on her forehead.

"And you? You're just going to live in this cave like this?" she says quietly. "Angantyr! When I wanted action, I didn't want /this!/" She is struggling, hard to stay strong and not have an emotional breakdown in front of everyone. Despite this, she hurls herself at Angantyr to hug him.

"I'm not going to forget about you." her growl sounds a little aggresive. "Not now. Not ever."
Maira has posed:
"No! Uist is wrong," she retorts. It is probably the first time she's ever said that, but she knows Uist is bias.

Uist lowers his gaze and steps back, crossing his arms. He will remain out of this. Perhaps he is wrong. Maira seems so sure.

"The cure...for Avira? For her form? Angantyr that's...you shouldn't have done this to yourself? Don't you realize how much Avira cares about you? Don't you understand that seeing you like this...it must cause more pain than simply having her body changed," she says, looking to Avira, who then moves toward Angantyr. Maira stands back and chews her lip. "I'm not going to either. I'm not going to leave unless you come with us. We'll find a way to help you."
Katyna has posed:
Katyna bites her lip as she listens. He must really have cared a lot for Avira to make such a sacrifice. She sighs softly, wondering what that must feel like. But what a fool he was to throw away his life, like Sir Kasrillen had done for her own sake! In the end, what's the point in sacrificing yourself for another if you're not around to enjoy the fruits of your labor?

She continues to listen from the back, looking like she's ready to leave herself, but Katyna was still curious to see how this would all turn out. "Hmm. They say you were once a powerful knight with control over the darkness. Are you saying not even you can overcome this darkness? How can you give up on your life so easily? You must realize she wont leave you, even like this.."

It's not so much out of concern that she speaks, but curiosity. How will this strange story play out? Could two people who had become such hideous creatures still be the same people within? Is this the price of darkness that Seith spoke to her of?
Minerva has posed:
Minerva is just staring at this she's not making a hostile move but two people she knows have beent twisted so badly and there's nothing she can do about it it makes her unhappy but what can the monk do? This is beyond her ability to vent an purge. If anything her masters teachings about reaching too deep are being proven entirely justifed. Katynya gets a look for a moment.

"She is right I never seen you give up easily nor the tails about you speak of you ever giving up easily."
Angantyr Vespar has posed:
And then things became awkward.

Avira embraces him in a hug, Angantyr looks down at her, even as she growls determinedly at him. He pauses...looking at Maira who is trying to convince him that the best course of action is to go with them. He rumbles... "Do you think I don't know that? Or that my feelings on the matter have changed?" he continues, "This was the only option."

Turning towards Katyna, he growls at her as she plays the critic, staring right at her with those eyes. "What do you know of the darkness? You have not lived with it for as long as I have...having to constantly control yourself, your emotions...everything about yourself." he continues, "But you know, right, lets go into a city. Lets see how long it takes them to shoot me."

He looks at Avira, "I.." he says, trying to find the words. He doesn't speak for a long time, trying to say something. "I am just...I don't know how long I will last, I don't want you to see me like this..."
Maira has posed:
Indeed, this is definitely where things get awkward. It is clear that Angantyr and Avira need some time alone to talk this out. "Obviously we would stay away from the cities...but...you shouldn't have to..." Maira heaves a sigh, looking down. She doesn't know what to say. What she does know, is that Avira has to be the one who handles this.

Turning toward Minerva and Katyna, Maira motions for them to follow her as she begins to retrace her steps out of the earth. "I think...some privacy might be called for. I won't be far though, okay? If anyone needs anything."
Avira has posed:
Here Avira thought he heard him despairing before. Those times on the ship were nothing compared to this. Angantyr had completely abandoned himself...for /her/ no less. Avira feels a little awful about it.

"I won't believe it. I won't believe this as the only option." Avira says quietly into the man's now leathery chest. Strange just how different a mutate this man was-likely due to the darkness within him. With so much...

He was right, he wouldn't last long. The realization is devastating, but something else in her mind pushes through. A small ray of hope-an /idea/. On that, she says nothing, guarding it jealously from everyone. Rising further up onto her toes, Avira presses her muzzle up against the mostly featureless 'face' of Angantyr. It may very well be the closest thing to a kiss she can offer in this mutated form of hers.

"Promise me.." she says quietly, "Promise me, then, that you'll stay here in this cave where I can find and visit you."
Katyna has posed:
Kat smirks. "Y'know, he does have a point.." She nods to Maira and backs off.
Minerva has posed:
Minerva looks at the pair of Ang and Avira. It's disturbingly cute in some bizzar way but she doesn't voice this at all. She wonders if something can be done for the Dark Knights. He seems to be in the same boat as Avira is now. This really is beyond her and what else can she do...? Cept help find someone who can work with the data that Avira stole.
Angantyr Vespar has posed:
Angantyr's 'mouth' and Avira's connect for a moment.

He doesn't speak for a moment, as she demands he promise...and he sighs. "Alright. But...don't come here alone. For your own safety." he says, defeated. I will come back here, to this spot." he says, finally.

He lingers for a few moments, and lets her go...backing away. A dark portal opening behind him and he is gone. "I promise." is his final words.
Avira has posed:
It's definitely beast and the beast today. But at least for the first time, Avira can look up at Angantyr and give him the literal puppy dog eyes.

It pays off. He agrees to her terms and Avira lets out a small contented sigh. "Good. I want to be able to at least see you now and then...before you..." Lose yourself to the darkness completely, she would say, but she knows that is not going to happen. She knows they're going to find a way to beat it-for both of them!

He steps away and says his final words before vanishing in a corridor of darkness. Avira remains facing away from the group for a long moment, saying nothing and not moving.

Eventually she turns around. She doesn't look sad at all, baring a grim, determined "smile" upon her lupine face. "C'mon everyone." she says, "We've got some work to do."
