The Church of Glabados began as a small group of families who witnessed Saint Ajora's first miracle; as soon as he was born, he rose to his feet and proclaimed a well was tainted. Those who drank from the well died soon after, and those who overheard his prophecy were quick to proclaim him a miracle and child of the gods.
When he reached twenty, Saint Ajora began to spread the word of the coming of Paradise. Pharist priests, fearing his growing influence, quickly tried him as a traitor to the Holy Ydoran Empire and had him hanged. His death soon became the doom of Pharism and the Empire as both were decimated in a terrifying cataclysm. Those who had faith in Saint Ajora preached upon his divinity, and soon after, the Church of Glabados was formed. The church controlled most of the Ivalice in some way or another, and was the only accepted religion. Most of those who believe in the religion, or work for the Church, are well spirited people - but are unaware of the Lucavi Resurrection Plot - set by the Knights Templar and the ruling body of the church. |
History
During the original onslaught of Heartless appearing in the world of Ivalice, the Church was quick to come to the aid of its people - while Folmarv Tengille and the rest of the Lucavi made use of the confusion to further their plans. Only just having been discovered by Ramza Beoulve - they come to use the Heartless to keep him and his group at bay.
But soon, the world found itself bathed into darkness, as the Heartless overran the world. And when parts of this Ivalice came to be again, much of the church found its power having dwindled and in a strange world.
Even now, they try to ascertain control of the situation and spread the religion - and the Lucavi find that the items and tools needed for the resurrection of Ultima have been spread and need to be found anew.
